School Highlights
The following school highlights showcase how Frank N. Osborne Middle School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.
- The OMS Boys Basketball team finished the Western Conference division with an undefeated of 14-0. The Boys also finished first place in the GCPS Western Conference Tournament.
- OMS 7th and 8th-grade choruses received Excellent and Superior rankings at their Large Group Performance Evaluations, with Superiors in Sight-reading. Our advanced Choruses also performed the National Anthem throughout the season in support of the Hawk Basketball teams.
- A total of 23 OMS band students participated in District 13 Honor Band and four students earned placement in the GMEA Middle School All-State Band. Our OMS Jazz Band performed in concert multiple times throughout the year. Osborne's 7th and 8th grade Bands earned all Superior ratings for the GMEA Large Group Performance.
- A total of 38 6th grade orchestra students participated in the District 13 Honor Orchestra. The 7th Grade Orchestra received all superior ratings at their Large Group Performance Evaluations (LGPE) and participated in the Kennesaw State University Orchestra Invitational. The 8th grade orchestra also received all superior ratings at LGPE and were featured at the Georgia Music Educators Association State in-service conference in Athens, GA.
- A total of 45 7th grade Advanced Theater students performed at Dramarama earning all Superior ratings from the judges. Also, 8th grade Advanced Theater students performed a full-length play in December and the musical "Bring It On" in March. Both the 7th and 8th grade Advanced Theatre Arts performed in an End-of-Year Theatre Arts Talent Show for parents and friends.
- Hispanic Heritage month recognized multiple Hispanic cultures and their contributions to the United States in all areas of society, including the arts, business, education, government and sports.
- OMS Black History Month included a historical showcase of more than 90 students participating in live performances representing written, artistic, and musical expression. The showcase honored historical black figures, and student presenters spoke of their futures and the African Americans who inspired them.
- Osborne Middle School students participated in four VEX Robotics regional competitions helping to build their collaboration, problem-solving, and design skills.
