-
Central Gwinnett High School (CGHS) was recognized as a 2023 Advanced Placement (AP) Honor School in the AP Access and Support School categories and an AP STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) School by the Georgia Department of Education.
-
Central Gwinnett class of 2023 consisted of 82 Honor Grads and 176 students who took Advanced Placement classes. Sixty-two students scored a three or higher on the AP exam, and 41 seniors took classes through Dual Enrollment, earning college credits while still in high school. The class of 2023 was offered $4.9 million in scholarships, not including HOPE or Zell Miller. 28 seniors chose to serve their county by enlisting in a branch of the Military.
-
A CGHS senior was awarded The Gates Scholarship (TGS). This is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential. Scholars receive funding for the total cost of attendance not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the methodology used by a Scholar's college or university. The cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation and may include other personal costs.
-
Central Gwinnett and the City of Lawrenceville have a unique partnership that spans over 65 years. The school and the community work to support each other in a variety of ways. The arts community in the greater Lawrenceville area collaborates and works with CGHS to provide its arts students with experiences outside of the classroom. In addition, the City of Lawrenceville offers paid internship opportunities during the summer to CGHS students to ensure that our students have an understanding of the opportunities that exist right here in our community to live, work, and play.
-
Central Gwinnett High School boasts the only arts-centered school within a school with its SOTA (School of The Arts) program. The School of the Arts at Central Gwinnett is thriving in its second year. This school within a school, referred to as SOTA, offers a unique arts-centric learning experience for Gwinnett County High School students who have a passion for the arts. SOTA is designed for students who want to take their artwork to the next level, working with industry professionals and partnering with arts organizations. This school provides opportunities that students will not find elsewhere.

In addition, Central Gwinnett has more than 35 school-sponsored clubs/activities in which students may choose to be involved, as well as five student-initiated groups students may choose to join. The staff at CGHS encourage all our students to choose an extracurricular and help continue the Black Knight tradition that spans over 65 years in the Lawrenceville community.

Athletics continue to be a point of pride at Central Gwinnett High School. The Central Gwinnett football program opened the season with a 5-0 record for the first time since 1980 under new head coach Larry Harold. Participation in our Softball and Volleyball teams was higher this year than ever. The Central Gwinnett Girls' basketball team made it to the Elite 8 while the boy's basketball team improved on their record from a year ago. 4 of our female wrestlers made it to state while E-sports and flag football made the playoffs. The Central Gwinnett Golf team, Tennis, and Track groups saw increased participation numbers. Black Knight, Baseball, and Soccer programs had productive seasons with much young talent in those programs.
