School Highlights
The following school highlights showcase how Annistown Elementary School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.
- Students in grades K–5 participated in Annistown's Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program, in which students spend half the day learning mathematics and science in Spanish and the other 50% learning language arts, social studies, and other subjects in English. Students start the program in kindergarten and continue their Spanish immersion experience each subsequent school year.
- Annistown students were recognized each semester for maintaining high achievement in academics and showing improvement. We also recognized students from each class through the PRIDE award for consistently showing PRIDE expectations.
- Annistown Elementary provides students with opportunities for enrichment and intervention through programs offered during the school day, before, after, and on Saturdays. Interventions included Early Intervention Program (EIP), Reading Recovery, English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) services, Fundations, and Accelerated Math.
- Annistown welcomed parents to our classrooms to learn alongside their children for our Bring Your Parents to School Day. Parents were able to experience learning as their students do each day. This also engaged parents in strategies to support learning at home.
- Over 200 parents joined the Annistown Lunch on the Lawn event. Parents and students engaged in opportunities to collaborate with peers and build relationships with other parents.
- Annistown partnered with Future Forward to provide students with tutoring opportunities during the school day in literacy and math. Future Forward also provided parents with opportunities to support home learning through parent meetings each semester.
- Annistown offered monthly gatherings at school through the All Pro Dads program. Families engage in meaningful conversations and activities centered around a character-based curriculum. The Annistown chapter provides opportunities for dads to spend quality time with their children, which will strengthen their relationship.
- Annistown teachers engaged in collaborative planning and professional learning for literacy and mathematics to improve instruction while enhancing academic rigor. Teachers meet weekly in learning teams to analyze curriculum standards, create common assessments, write common lesson plans embedding Quality-Plus Teaching Strategies, and analyze student work to improve their craft of teaching.
- The Parent Center, funded by Title I, partnered with parents to help their child improve academically. Parents were provided opportunities to learn how to help their child improve their reading, math, and writing skills and given access to resources to help with homework.
- Annistown Elementary offered a variety of clubs and community activities, including the Spanish Club, Ladies of Distinction, Peer Leaders, Student Council, Robotics Club, Student Safety Patrols, Chess Club, Kids Beach Club, and Basketball Club.
