- 7th grade students at Jones MS participated in a community service project sponsored by The Panattoni Development Company, Alston Construction Company, and Ware Malcomb Architects in partnership with their client Target Corporation, building a 1.4M SF warehouse/distribution center in Hampton, GA. The A-Town Lego City community service project aims to introduce students to the world of development, architecture, and construction, focusing on how artificial intelligence and advanced technologies are embedded in the field. The children experience roles as the general contractor, project manager, construction manager, scheduler, etc. For six weeks, during homeroom, students worked together to build A-Town Lego City. Students were given construction documents, as an actual project team would. At the end of the project, a representative from both Panattoni Development Company and Alston Construction Company hosted an assembly to reveal the final city and took students on a virtual tour of the Target construction site.
