School Highlights

- Lilburn Middle School hosted a community outreach event called Cafcon la Familia, a Hispanic Community Outreach event cohosted by Dr. Watts, The Latin American Association, which focused on building a bridge with the surrounding Hispanic community.
- LMS hosted a Business Partner and Volunteer Appreciation Brunch recognizing 40 Business Partners and 100 Volunteers; Business partners donated approximately $4,500 in financial support this school year.
- Lilburn Middle School PTSA provided outstanding support for the school: The PTSA Raised $28,000 locally, and the funding was used toward Student/staff support efforts. Lilburn Middle School hosted two well-attended PTSA Skate Nights and a PTSA International Night.
- Lilburn Middle School principal, Dr. Nicole Irish, was named Principal of the Year by the Gwinnett Area I PTA.
- Mrs. Alena Markitan, LMS Head Custodian, received the Head Custodian of the Year Award for the 4th Year in a Row and was named the City of Lilburn Citizen of the Month of June.
- Ms. Lydia Lim, 6th-grade teacher, was named the City of Lilburn Citizen of the Month for September for her innovative approach to addressing vaping/drug use by creating the COYAD Club- an anti-drug and drug awareness organization.
- Special Education teacher Mr. Johnson and the students within his class were named Citizens of the Month of February for their work within the community.
- Two teachers and ten Lilburn Middle School students traveled to Georgia Tech to participate in a Radio Crafters Workshop, where they designed wireless communication devices using Micro: bit technology.
- Fifty-six of our students and six teachers attended the STEAM Innovation Day at Georgia Tech.
- The LMS Student Council comprised over 30 students who engaged in student-led activities throughout the year, including Red Ribbon Week, No Place for Hate, hosting the GCPS Superintendent, Dr. Watts, and many other initiatives.
- Lilburn Middle School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with Operational status for its implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in the last school year. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
