Academic Team/Quiz Bowl

  • Mission: To compete in state and national tournaments in quiz bowl contests involving questions from all academic areas.
     
    Activities: Tournaments located throughout the Southeast.
     
    Eligibility: Try-outs are held for the Varsity team (10th, 11th, 12th grades). No try-outs for 9th grade team. All freshmen may participate.
     
    Meets: 9th grade meets and practices after school beginning in August (day to be determined). Varsity schedule will be determined in August. Team members are expected to attend a 5-day training camp in the summer.
     
    Time Commitment: Teams participate in 15-20 competitions per year although not all players participate in every competition.  There are three practices per week for varsity players.

  • Academic Team qualifies for Nationals 2023.

    Our 2022-23 team qualified for Nationals based on their performance at Region.

    Pictured are Bryson Handy, Louis Harney, Grasu Mwakailiku, Farhan Baig, and Evan Hitchcock. Louis and Evan placed first at Region in their individual categories, the National Qualifying Exam for the National Geography Bee and the U.S. History Qualifying Exam, respectively.
