    The United States Armed Forces

    The military is made up of five branches, each with their own active-duty and part-time components. Each varies in service commitment, location and how its members contribute to the overall mission of protecting our country. 

    Why the Military?

    The military offers many different opportunities for military training, education, travel, and SALARY. 

    Military Checklist:

    • Learn about the different opportunities the military has to offer and see if it is right for you. Talk with your parents/ guardians. 
    • Go to Today's Military for information on how to join. 
    • Choose the right path for you. 
    • MEET WITH A RECRUITER. A recruiter is going to be the best resource for you if you are interested in joining the military. 
    • Take the ASVAB Test
    • Go to the MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Command) and choose a specialty/branch. 
    • Request your transcript in May to be sent to the recruiter/branch. 

    Military Requirements:

    • Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test is offered twice a year here at Discovery; once in the Fall and the Spring. Be sure to check our counseling calendar for the exact dates and when to register.

    • You MUST have a high school diploma to join the military, a GED will NOT be accepted.
