About Lexiles
The Lexile Framework for Reading is a scientific approach to reading measurement that matches readers to text. The Lexile Framework measures reader ability and text difficulty on the same scale. Students receives a Lexile score based on the Reading Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) each spring. A Lexile can be interpreted as the level of a book that a student can read with 75% comprehension level. Experts recommend that students read 50 Lexiles above and 100 Lexiles below their score for optimum growth as readers.
