In Science, GCPS students learn through a hands-on approach. They gain experience using the scientific method in a laboratory setting, and hone the scientific skills of observing, collecting and analyzing data, making measurements, drawing conclusions, and communicating informaiton.

6th Grade

The focus of 6th Grade Science is Earth Science, including astronomy, hydrology, meteorology, geology, paleontology, and ecology.

7th Grade

The focus of 7th Grade Science is Life Science, including classification, ecology, evolution, cells, and genetics.

8th Grade

The focus of 8th Grade Science is Physical Science, including matter, energy, force, motion, gravity, waves, electricity, and magentism.
