Mission:

To give students an opportunity to foster interests in their school community and to help them learn how to utilize and/or expand skills associated with publishing a school yearbook.

Description of Activities:

The Yearbook Club will map and implement all of the activities required to plan and create the OMS Yearbook: Ascending Heights. Students will learn about photography, interviewing, storyboarding, Photoshop, and computer skills. 

Student Requirements:

Interested students must have some computer, writing, and/ or photography skills. Students must complete an application and submit three teachers’ recommendations using teachers who have known the students more than two to three weeks. These must be returned to the sponsor in the required time frame (at the beginning of the school year); after all applications are submitted, individual interviews will be set up with the sponsor. The Yearbook Club will be limited to no more than 20 members selected from all applicants by a committee of teachers. Students will be expected to attend at least 90% of meetings, which will take place Monday and Wednesday mornings unless otherwise announced. Students will have to provide their own transportation.

Permission Forms:

Parents must complete a permission form when students apply to participate in the Yearbook Club. Club members’ parents must also complete a video release form for the school year in which their child will participate in the Yearbook Club.
