AP Drawing
AP Drawing
AP Drawing is designed to promote the student’s artistic voice and develop an independent artist. The course focuses on helping students develop a Drawing portfolio to showcase their technical and conceptual skills. The course emphasizes practice, experimentation, and revision of one’s work as it develops, and thoughtful integration of materials, processes and ideas. AP Drawing is an introductory college-level art course focusing on drawing skills in the drawing, painting, printmaking and/or digital painting mediums. Students work on a topic of their choosing and develop a series of works relating to it known as a sustained investigation, an in-depth look at an idea over time. Portfolios will be submitted to AP college board for evaluation.

AP 2D Art and Design
AP 2D Art and Design
AP 2D Art and Design is designed to promote the student’s artistic voice and develop an independent artist. The course focuses on helping students develop a 2D Art and Design portfolio. The course emphasizes practice, experimentation, and revision of one’s work as it develops, and thoughtful integration of materials, processes and ideas. AP 2D Art and Design is an introductory college-level art course focusing on design skills in any 2D medium including graphics, digital painting, digital manipulation, photography, drawing, painting, printmaking and/or mixed media. Students work on a topic of their choosing and develop a series of works relating to it known as a sustained investigation, an in-depth look at an idea over time. Portfolios will be submitted to AP college board for evaluation.

Digital Design
Digital Design
Digital Design is an advanced art course that offers students the opportunity to refine and develop their 2D skills using the computer to generate a variety of artworks and designs. Students will learn to use Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Animate and Figma on a Mac computer. Adobe Illustrator is a vector-based program used to create a variety of graphics and artistic illustrations. Adobe Animate is used to create original gifs and animated characters. Figma is design software for interactive app design. Students will develop the technical and conceptual skills needed to create a mix of interactive designs. Students will explore artists related to the field of digital design to help inform and develop their design skills and artistic voice. The Digital Design course enables students to move on to level III, which could be Digital Design II or AP 2D Art and Design.

Drawing and Painting is an advanced art course that offers students the opportunity to refine and develop their 2D skills through a range of media and processes. Students work on a larger more ambitious scale and work towards a more independent line of inquiry as they develop their technical and conceptual skills. Students will use a variety of materials such as acrylic paint, watercolor, graphite, charcoal, colored pencil and mixed media. Students will look at the work of both traditional and contemporary artists and art movements to help influence their own investigation and develop their artistic voice. The Drawing and Painting course enables students to move on to level III, which could be Drawing and Painting II or AP Drawing.

Printmaking
Printmaking
Printmaking is an advanced art course that offers students the opportunity to refine and develop their 2D skills through a range of printmaking media and processes. Students work on a larger more ambitious scale and work towards a more independent line of inquiry as they develop their technical and conceptual skills. Students will learn a variety of printmaking processes including intaglio prints, relief prints, planographic prints, and screenprinting. We will also incorporate drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media techniques with these printmaking processes. Students will look at the work of both traditional and contemporary artists and art movements to help influence their own investigation and develop their artistic voice. The Printmaking course enables students to move on to level III, which could be AP Drawing or AP 2D Art and Design.

Sculpture
Sculpture is an advanced art course that offers students the opportunity to refine and develop their 3D skills through a range of media and processes. Students work on a larger, more ambitious scale and work towards a more independent line of inquiry as they develop their technical and conceptual skills. Students will use a variety of materials such as wood, wire, posterboard, cardboard, clay, and found objects. Students will look at the work of both traditional and contemporary artists and art movements to help influence their own investigation and develop their artistic voice. The Sculpture course enables students to move on to level III, which could be Sculpture II or AP 3D Art and Design. -
Visual Art Comp I/II - (2D/3D)
Visual Art Comp I/II - (2D/3D)
The Visual Arts pathway opens up many creative options for students who enjoy a range of 2D and 3D processes. Visual Art Comp I and II (2D / 3D) is the prerequisite course for any advanced art course. Students will be able to specialize in certain areas by taking advanced art courses to refine higher level skills and ultimately consider AP Drawing or AP 2D Art and Design. This introductory studio art course is split over a year, with Visual Art Comp I / 2D one semester and Visual Art Comp II / 3D the other. Students will learn the basics of 3D art which includes pottery, wire sculpture, plaster carving and other 3D materials. 2D art will help students develop their drawing, painting, collage and printmaking skills. Students will explore traditional and contemporary artists and art movements. Visual Arts is for students who are creative, enjoy making art or simply want to improve.
