  • Health

    This course is a graduation requirement designed to offer a practical approach to health topics that concern adolescents. The course covers knowledge and skills necessary for personal health and well-being and the prevention and treatment of injury. Additional information covered includes disease prevention, relationships, consumer health, the life cycle, CPR/AED instruction, and preventing the abuse of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs.

    This course includes the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP). Students will receive a certificate of completion that will be required to apply for a Georgia Class D driver’s license. The ADAP certificate is not required when you apply for a learner’s permit.

  • Personal Fitness

    This course is a graduation requirement and a prerequisite to all elective physical education courses. The course provides students with the basic knowledge and understanding that physical fitness, exercise, and diet are essential in developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. There is no waiver for this course as a graduation requirement for a Regular Education Diploma.

  • Athletic Trainer/Sports Medicine

    ** Personal Fitness & Health graduation requirement must be met before you can sign up for this course** 

    This course concentrates on the fields of sports medicine, athletic training and physical therapy. Students will learn to evaluate, treat and rehabilitate athletic injuries and can become student athletic trainers for CHHS sports teams in partnership with our school Athletic Trainers. Students will learn advanced emergency care and have the option of getting CPR and First Aid certified.

  • Body Sculpting

    ** Personal Fitness & Health graduation requirement must be met before you can sign up for this course**

    This course is our all female weight training class that provides basic instruction in methods to define, condition and reshape the body through specific exercises. Topics covered are weight training, conditioning exercises, proper nutrition, muscle definition, posture, physical response to exercise and weight control. Dressing out for class daily into proper workout attire is a requirement of this course in order to participate.

  • Recreational Games

    ** Personal Fitness & Health graduation requirement must be met before you can sign up for this course**

    Participate in a variety of recreational games such as table tennis, billiards, shuffleboard, lawn darts, bocce ball, bowling, badminton, volleyball, and paddle ball in order to improve cardiovascular fitness. Learn basic recreational game skills (throwing, catching, striking with a body part, striking with a piece of equipment), rules, tactic and scoring. Dressing out for class daily into proper workout attire is a requirement of this course in order to participate.

  • Team Sports

    ** Personal Fitness & Health graduation requirement must be met before you can sign up for this course**

    A series of courses that provide recreational fitness opportunities using basketball, volleyball, football, and ultimate frisbee to improve personal fitness and to develop lifelong appreciation for fitness games and activities. Dressing out for class daily into proper workout attire is a requirement of this course in order to participate.

  • Weight Training

    ** Personal Fitness & Health graduation requirement must be met before you can sign up for this course**

    This is an all male class that provide a student with the opportunity to develop muscular strength and endurance through the use of weight training and conditioning principles. Dressing out for class daily into proper workout attire is a requirement of this course in order to participate.
