• Social Studies Electives

  • To request to take a science elective, speak with your current science teacher. All science electives are open to rising seniors. Rising juniors may take a science elective as long as there are spaces remaining after seniors are placed in the courses.

  • African American Studies

    This semester course provides a comprehensive, chronological survey of the history of African Americans in the United States. Students  examine topics beginning with Ancient African History and continuing through Transatlantic Slave Trade, Pre-Civil War, Life during  Colonial Settlement, Life during the Civil War/Reconstruction, Life after Emancipation, Harlem Renaissance, Life during the Great Depression and WWII, Modern Civil Rights Movement, Life during the late 20th- 21st century, and Issues in Contemporary times.

    This course is paired with American Indian Studies.

    American Indian Studies

    This semester course provides a comprehensive, chronological survey of the history of American Indians in the United States. Students  examine topics beginning with Pre-Columbian experiences and continuing through to contemporary issues these Nations face, including experiences with European colonization, disease and its impact, foodways, cultures, activism, and contributions to American life.
