GRADES K-8: i-READY

  • i-Ready LogoStudents in grades K - 8 will be participating in i-Ready Diagnostic testing for mathematics and reading. The i-Ready Diagnostic is designed to help your child’s teachers determine what students already know and what they still need to learn. Therefore, students should give their best effort without anyone else helping with the answers so teachers can plan how to support them. 

     

    Students will take the i-Ready Diagnostic at home using their GCPS Chromebook/Personal Computer according to their designated LIVE session day. This schedule will be provided by the student's language arts and math teachers.

i-READY TESTING SCHEDULE

  • The fall i-Ready diagnostic will be administered remotely during the week of August 12-16 for all grades K-8.

ITEMS NEEDED

    • GCPS Chromebook/Personal Computer
    • Headphones
    • Scratch Paper & Pencil
    • Do not use outside resources (no phones or calculators)
    • Timer (if desired - the assessment is best if done in 60-minute intervals)

PLANNING YOUR i-READY TESTING DAY

  • Prepare for testing within your school workspace with the required supplies needed.

    • Once students start the test, they will be prompted to watch an introductory video as part of the testing session.
    • Students will need to click on every tool before they are able to continue the test.
    • There are built-in brain breaks and activities that range between 60 and 90 seconds (these cannot be skipped).

    *This is not a pretest. Students who answer too quickly will send a red flag to administration resulting in the student being assigned unnecessary additional coursework. The use of outside resources of any kind will provide inaccurate results and students will not receive the support needed to be successful.

    *We greatly appreciate parent support during this at-home assessment. You may observe your child struggling with some of the questions during the test. This is a normal part of taking this test. If you notice your child is becoming frustrated, we ask that you not provide assistance with the answer and have them move to the next question.

    This test is adaptive, which means that the level of difficulty will change as the student answers each question. Questions get a little harder each time a question is answered correctly, and a little easier when answered incorrectly.
