PRINCIPAL

Dr. Ray grew up in Maine and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Saint Joseph’s College, and a master’s degree in middle grades education from the University of Maine. After moving to Georgia in 1996, he earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University focusing on the effective use of technology in schools.  

Dr. Ray has served in a variety of roles in Gwinnett County Public Schools including classroom teacher, local school technology coordinator, assistant principal, and principal.

In 2011, Dr. Ray became the principal of Gwinnett Online Campus and began the development of an online school serving grades 4 - 12 for Gwinnett County Public Schools. Creating a brand new school utilizing innovative and transformative educational methods is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an educator. Throughout this process, Dr. Ray continues to use his background in technology systems, instructional design, staff development, K-12 knowledge, systems thinking, creativity, innovation, and collaborative team development to lead Gwinnett Online Campus.

Today, Gwinnett Online Campus is a leader in K-12 online and blended learning at the local, state, and national levels. 

Dr. Ray lives in Monroe with his wife, two daughters, and three dogs. He enjoys spending quality time with his family. His belief in making special moments into memories carries into his work at Gwinnett Online Campus with students and staff.
