  • SAT School Day
     
    MVHS students currently enrolled in 11th grade will take the SAT during the SAT School Day on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. The test will take 2 hours and 14 minutes to complete and will be administered during a block schedule on this day. In addition, there will be a digital readiness check prior to the test on March 21, 2024. On this day, students will need to bring in their school-issued Chromebook to get it set up and ready for the test. Students with dual-enrollment or who attend Grayson or Maxwell will be provided the opportunity to complete the digital readiness check on March 22 or March 25. Please see the Testing Coordinator, Eddie Barnes, if this applies to you.
     
    The SAT measures the knowledge and skills students are learning in school and that matter most for college and career readiness. Watch this video to see what your student can expect with the digital SAT.

    Gwinnett Writes
     
    MVHS students currently enrolled in a 10th Grade LA course will take the Gwinnett Writes assessment on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. This is a 90-minute assessment that will take place during a block schedule on this day. Gwinnett Writes replaces the 2nd Semester Language Arts Interim. It is the required district Language Arts assessment for 3rd quarter.
     
    The purpose of the Gwinnett Writes assessment program is to assess writing skills for each student. The assessment is designed to measure student achievement relative to the knowledge and skills set forth in Gwinnett’s essential curriculum, the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS). The AKS includes writing skills that are specifically taught in language arts courses as well as embedded within science and social studies courses. The assessment occurs during third quarter as a language arts summative assessment with a choice of writing topics from Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. The writing tasks are document-based prompts that require students to construct either an expository or argumentative response. During the test development process, Gwinnett educators develop and review all items to ensure there is alignment between the writing assessment and the AKS.

    The Testing Office is responsible for all testing related to successful performance at Mountain View.

    • Those tests include the End of Course Tests (EOCT's/Milestones), Gateway, District Assessments (DA's), GCPS Milestone Benchmark, and other similar tests if necessary.

    What Are Milestone Assessments?

    The Georgia Milestones is a comprehensive summative assessment program spanning grades 3 through high school.  The Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the content standards in the core content areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. It is designed to provide information about student achievement and readiness to move on to the next level of learning.

  • Gateway

    What is the Gateway? 

    The Gateway tests are one way Gwinnett schools measure student learning of the school system’s curriculum— the Academic Knowledge and Skills or AKS. The High School Gateway is a writing test that assesses students’ language arts, science, and social studies knowledge and skills. As the parent of a high school student, you may have questions about this test, which your child must pass to earn a regular Gwinnett County high school diploma.

  • PSAT

    On Tuesday, October 25, all 10th students will take the PSAT/NMSQT® (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), an important step along their path to college. This test is provided for free to all 10th grade students in GCPS; 10th grade students will automatically be registered for the exam.
