Kindergarten

  • Kindergarten students work very hard throughout the year.

During our Reader’s Workshop, we practice decoding and comprehension skills as we become independent readers. We learn to read and tell about the stories we read. We explore nonfiction as we learn about our world.

Writer’s Workshop helps us to share our stories, thoughts, and knowledge with everyone. We learn to express ourselves clearly. We also work on the mechanics of writing (correct letter formation, spacing, punctuation and grammar).

Math Workshop is always an exciting time. We work together in large and small groups to lay the foundations of our math thinking. We learn to count, compare numbers, add, subtract, identify coins and identify shapes. We practice measuring in a variety of ways (length, weight, capacity).

Our goal is for students to become independent thinkers and lifelong learners. By the end of the school year, we plan for every student to be successful in first grade and beyond.

We look forward to teaching your children this year!
