Student Dress Code

  • At DMS, our ultimate goal is to prepare students for success in the workplace. Our dress code regulations are never intended to stifle a student’s self-expression, rather to foster an atmosphere of professionalism and decorum. 

     

    While the following are guidelines, administrative discretion may be applied at any time.  The dress code includes, but is not limited to the following:

     

    Tops & Bottoms

    Shorts and skirts should be a reasonable length.

    Pajama bottoms are not allowed at school.

    Undergarments should never be visible.

    Shirts should cover the midriff and waist.

    No halter tops, strapless tops, backless tops, see-through tops or lingerie-like tops.

    Holes in jeans should be below the pocket.

     

    Headwear

    Headwear is prohibited and must be kept out of sight in the building.

    No sunglasses inside the building.

    Exceptions for religious or medical reasons may be granted by the principal.

     

    Shoes

    Bedroom shoes (slippers) are not allowed. 

     

    Other

    Students may not wear blankets or capes to school. 

    No words, symbols, or artwork that advocates or depicts violence, or that is inflammatory or suggestive of drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, sex, gang affiliation, hate groups or other illegal activity should be expressed or implied.  

    No student clothing shall be disruptive to the school environment.

    No accessories or jewelry that may be used as weapons are allowed to be worn at school. This includes, but is not limited to, wallet chains, spiked rings, spiked bracelets, two or three finger rings that are joined, and bulky chains worn around the neck or waist.  



    If a student does not meet the dress code, they have the following choices:  

     

    They may call home for a change of clothes OR be loaned clothes by the school. 

    If a change of clothes is not available, the student will be placed in the ISS (In School Suspension) classroom for the remainder of the day.

  • En DMS, nuestro objetivo final es preparar a los estudiantes para el éxito en el lugar de trabajo. Las normas de nuestro código de vestimenta nunca pretenden sofocar la autoexpresión de un estudiante, sino fomentar una atmósfera de profesionalismo y decoro.


    Si bien las siguientes son pautas, la discreción administrativa se puede aplicar en cualquier momento. El código de vestimenta incluye, pero no se limita a lo siguiente:


    Partes de Arriba y de Abajo

    Los pantalones cortos y las faldas deben tener un largo razonable.

    No se permiten pantalones de pijama en la escuela.

    La ropa interior nunca debe ser visible.

    Las camisas deben cubrir el estómago y la cintura.

    No se permiten blusas sin mangas, blusas sin tirantes, blusas sin espalda, blusas transparentes o blusas tipo lencería.

    Los agujeros en los jeans deben estar debajo del bolsillo.


    Sombreros

    Los sombreros están prohibidos y deben mantenerse fuera de la vista en el edificio.

    No se permiten lentes de sol dentro del edificio.

    El director puede conceder excepciones por motivos religiosos o médicos.


    Zapatos

    No se permiten zapatos de dormitorio (pantuflas).


    Otro

    Los estudiantes no pueden usar mantas o capas en la escuela.

    No deben expresarse ni implicarse palabras, símbolos ni obras de arte que aboguen o representen la violencia, o que incendien o sugieran drogas, alcohol, productos de tabaco, sexo, afiliación a pandillas, grupos de odio u otra actividad ilegal.

    Ninguna ropa de los estudiantes debe ser disruptiva para el ambiente escolar.

    No se permite el uso de accesorios o joyas que puedan usarse como armas en la escuela. Esto incluye, pero no se limita a, cadenas de billetera, anillos con púas, pulseras con púas, dos o tres anillos de dedo que se unen y cadenas voluminosas que se usan alrededor del cuello o la cintura.

     

    Si un estudiante no cumple con el código de vestimenta, tiene las siguientes opciones:


    Pueden llamar a casa para cambiarse de ropa O que la escuela les preste ropa.

    Si no hay un cambio de ropa disponible, el estudiante será colocado en el salón de clases ISS (Suspensión en la escuela) por el resto del día.
