    Barrett Alexander, is a native of Ypsilanti, MI. He was educated at Alabama A&M University and Hampton University where he was a student of the late great B.E. Smart. Barrett has taught at all levels from middle school through college, the longest tenure at McNair High School in Dekalb County.  As Director of Bands at McNair, the band received many accolades including Band of the Year, consistent superior ratings, and winner of the Johnson C. Smith and Tuskegee Battle of the Bands. In his most recent position at Newton High School, he founded The Sound Factory and reestablished band pride in Covington. Additionally, Mr. Alexander’s students have averaged one million dollars in scholarships annually and excelled in all walks of life.
