• A Message from Mr. McCain

  • Greetings Richards Middle Students, Families, and Staff!

I hope you are all doing well as we prepare to begin the 2024-2025 school year!

We are eager to welcome our newest Titan 6th graders to Richards Middle School! It is always sad to say farewell to our 8th grade students who demonstrate tremendous academic, fine arts, and athletic success each school year. But their maturity and achievements remind us of the great things in store for our incoming rising titans!

The theme for Gwinnett County Public Schools this year is IMPACT!! That word carries a lot of meaning and proverbially speaking, “packs a lot of punch”!! It causes each of us to consider how our words, actions, and decisions “impact” ourselves, other people, our classroom, our school, and our families. For example:

    • Student commitment to academic coursework will impact their learning and grades.
    • Students who learn to play a musical instrument will impact their opportunity for playing with more advanced groups in high school, college, or the potential for a career in music.
    • Students who seek proficiency in technology, engineering, computer science, or business education will impact and increase their opportunities for college and career advancement.
    • Students who make good choices at school, home, and on social media will positively impact their experiences in school, family, or community activities and events.
    • Students who seek leadership opportunities in school will impact their potential for similar experiences and positions beyond the educational setting.
    • Students who are kind, encouraging, and supportive of others will impact their quality and quantity of positive and flourishing friendships.

It is our hope that all Richards Middle students will embrace their ability to make a positive and productive impact academically and socially, while in our school. By following our school’s PBIS slogan (G.R.I.P. - Good Judgment, Responsibility, Integrity, and Pride), students give themselves the best chance of maximizing their potential for academic learning and social-emotional maturity.

At Richards Middle School we are committed to supporting each student enrolled in our school. We understand that students have different individual learning and behavioral needs. Knowing that, we are dedicated to providing an enriching, engaging, relevant, and positively impactful learning experience. For all middle school students there will be highs and lows and ups and downs. And our goal at Richards is to work intentionally and with empathy, so that each and every student feels proud of their school and feels a sense of belonging when they walk in the classroom each day!

Wishing each of you a happy, successful, and IMPACTFUL school year! GO TITANS!

    Sincerely,

    Mark McCain
