Dance is an audition-placement Fine Arts elective available to students in all grades. Students learn and practice the technical skills, vocabulary and historical knowledge necessary to gain an understanding and appreciation of dance. Classes consist of ballet, jazz and modern dance as well as dance history, movement science and anatomy.
A Dance Composition and Teaching course also is offered to select students by teacher recommendation.
Placement: Incoming freshman and current students may audition in February for the following school year. Approximately 20 – 30 students are added to the program each year.
Requirements: All dance students are required to perform in the fall and spring dance shows.
Attire: All dance students are required to dress in appropriate dance attire and shoes every day.
Annual Class Fee: $10 covers the cost of locker and supplies.
