Mr. Jason Lane

Jason Lane serves as the principal of Mill Creek High School.  He began his career in 1998 teaching French at Crawford County High School in Roberta, Georgia, and continued at Hephzibah High School in Augusta, Georgia, where he was also an assistant football coach and the head women’s soccer coach.  Mr. Lane became an Assistant Principal at Brookwood High School in 2002 and later served in this same role at North Gwinnett High School. In 2008, Mr. Lane was chosen to be the principal of Duluth High School, where he remained until coming to Mill Creek in December of 2012. As a principal, Mr. Lane focuses his efforts on building positive relationships, designing and sustaining an instructional framework, building leadership capacity, and supporting teacher collaboration.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in French, both from Valdosta State University; a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Augusta State University; and a Certificat Pratique de Langue Francaise (1er degree) from the University of Caen in Normandy, France.  In addition to his role as principal of Mill Creek, Mr. Lane currently serves on the Board of Directors for  the Gwinnett Student Leadership Team.  In his spare time, Mr. Lane enjoys playing tennis and golf.  He and his wife Lisa have two sons.

Dr. Chesley Cypert

Dr. Chesley Cypert serves as the Associate Principal and oversees all areas of instruction. She serves as the 12th grade administrator, attendance administrator and Title IX Coordinator. Dr. Cypert brings over 20 years of educational experience all in Gwinnett County to our team and has been at Mill Creek since it opened in 2004. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management; a Master of Education in Business Education; an Educational Specialist in Instructional Technology; and a Doctorate of Education in Workforce Education all from the University of Georgia. She is certified in the fields of Business Education (6-12), Marketing Education (6-12) and Educational Leadership (P-12).

Dr. Monica Cook

Dr. Monica Hudson Cook started her educational career in 1998 at Berkmar High. She started out as teacher, head coach of two sports, and as a department chair. Since her transition to Mill Creek High School in 2007, she has served in various administrative roles. At this time, she coordinates the yearly All A's Breakfast (February) and Academic Letter Night (October) events, serves as the Title IX Investigator, Discipline Coordinator, and Assistant Principal for 11th & 12th grade students. Additionally, she oversees the instruction of our Language Arts department.

Dr. Cook has earned a Bachelor's of Science in Education with a focus in Health & Physical Education from Fort Valley State University, a Master's of Arts in Adult/Instructional Education from Central Michigan University, a Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University, and a Doctoral degree in Teacher Leadership from Walden University. When away from school, she enjoys spending quality time with her parents, cooking on the grill, participating in community service related events with her sorority (Delta Sigma Theta), and traveling with her best friends.

Dr. Vicki Husby

Dr. Vicki Husby serves as assistant principal for Special Education, 504 Plans, and Student Support Teams. She began her career in 1995 and has served as a middle school teacher, high school instructional coach, K-12 curriculum coordinator, high school special education coordinator, secondary curriculum director, professional learning director, teacher development consultant, adjunct university professor, and professional grant writing trainer.  Dr. Husby has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with endorsements in Middle Grades Education and Spanish. She has a Master's degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities. She also has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, with an emphasis on teacher development. She is certified in the areas of Early Childhood Education, Middle Grades Education, Gifted Education, K-12 Special Education, and Educational Leadership.  Dr. Husby is married and has a son and daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family and doing “bucket list” experiences with them. In her spare time, she likes Bible study, watching superhero movies, and bargain shopping with a Starbucks frappuccino in her hand.

Mrs. Lacey Jakes

Lacey Jakes serves at the Assistant Principal in the Curriculum Department and also oversees the instruction of the EPIC program (STEM). In addition, she works with class schedules and registration, final exams, grading, and instruction. Ms. Jakes has over 18 years experience teaching primarily in mathematics, has served as the Department Chair, has lead multiple teams, and facilitates staff development. Ms. Jakes is a Gwinnett county high school graduate of Shiloh High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Policy and Planning from Georgia Tech and a Masters of Arts in Instructional Systems from Florida State University.  She is certified in the fields of Mathematics, Social Science, Educational Leadership, and is a Georgia Master Teacher. She is married with two sons, who are actively involved in the Mill Creek Community.

Ms. Elaine Orange

Elaine Orange serves as the Testing Coordinator and oversees the MCHS Foreign Language Department.  Additionally, she oversees the ESOL department as she has prior experience as an ESOL Department Teacher Lead.  She has a BA in Math Education from the University of Georgia and a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Georgia.  She started in GCPS in 2013 as an Algebra 1 teacher and has experience in both middle and high schools.  She is currently certified in the fields of Mathematics, Science, Language Arts, and Curriculum and Instruction.  Ms. Orange enjoys spending her free time playing outside with her son and dog.  She enjoys taking her son on day trips to explore all around Georgia.

Mr. Travis Techo

Travis Techo currently serves as athletics director and also oversees the instruction of the Science department. He started at GCPS teaching Social Studies at Norcross High School in 2015. In addition to teaching US History, Economics, and World History, he was also an assistant coach for boys' basketball. Travis holds both a Bachelor's degree in History and a Master's Degree in Social Studies Education from the University of Georgia.

Travis is married to his wife, Hannah, and they have one son and one daughter. Outside of school, Travis enjoys all outdoor activities as well as cheering on the Dawgs on Saturdays.

Dr. Victoria Eidex

Dr. Victoria Eidex serves as the Community School Director for the schools in the Mill Creek cluster. She has a BA in Journalism from the University of Georgia; MEd in English Education from Georgia State University; and PhD of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Mercer University. Prior to coming to Mill Creek, she taught language arts in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties.
