Shiloh Middle School Clubs & Organzations
“Shiloh Middle School strives to support extracurricular excellence by offering a range of activities that enhance students’ social emotional well being. Students are strongly encouraged to share their talents and abilities by participating in at least one extracurricular activity. Our faculty sponsors and coaches aim to provide a safe and supportive environment where students can achieve personal and social success.”
The following clubs and organizations are active for the 2024-2025 school year.
Baking Club - Sponsor: Mattie Turner
- The Shiloh Baking Club is a club designed to learn the basics of baking products. The purpose is to engage students in the fundamentals of cooking, so they can prepare quick easy dishes for their family and have fun while baking. Grade levels are 6th-8th grade. 30 students is the max we can accept. The Baking Club will meet twice a month on Mondays. The cost is $25. This will cover all supplies and baking supplies that are needed on an ongoing basis for the first semester.
Basketball (Girls) - Sponsor: Meshach Barker
- As head coach of the Shiloh Girls' Basketball team, I ensure that the players are well-prepared for games by employing various tactics learned during practice. We also conduct team-building exercises both within and outside of school, which help stimulate growth and understanding of what being a student-athlete can offer.
- We offer this to no more than 15 girls, grades 6, 7, and 8. We practice after school from 4:30-6:30 and sometimes Saturday mornings. The cost in $300 per player but is usually discounted due to the fundraiser. The cost covers uniforms, warm ups, shooter shirts, basketballs, referee, transportation, pre game meals, and more.
Cheerleading - Sponsor: Deirdre Palmore-King
- Cheerleading is open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders and is a Year long sport from September to May. Middle school cheerleading is a program that aims to promote school spirit, support school athletic teams, and promote physical activity among students. Middle school cheerleading provides opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills and confidence while fostering a sense of community and pride within the school. The mission of middle school cheerleading is to encourage school spirit, support athletic events, and create a fun, positive and inclusive environment for all students.
- Cheerleaders will be selected based on overall fitness, cheerleading ability, teacher recommendation, interpersonal skills, good sportsmanship, and good academic standards. To try-out and remain on the cheer squad, a student must have passed 5 out of 6 classes from the 2nd semester of last school year. Academic Achievement should be a priority. Cheerleaders are “Leaders of the school” and expected to uphold high academic and disciplinary standards. $800 Covers Uniform, shoes, warm-up suit, snacks and waters. Practices are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 4:45-6:30pm
Club D&D - Sponsors: Ms. Owens and Mr. Keys
- Embark on epic adventures every Tuesday with Club D&D! We'll be using the world's greatest roleplaying game as a tool for creative storytelling and collaborative fun. Whether you're a seasoned dungeon crawler or new to the realm of role-playing, all brave heroes are welcome. Join us to slay dragons, solve mysteries, and forge friendships in fantastical worlds. No experience needed – just bring your imagination! Club D&D will accept 15 players. Students in grades 6-8 may join. There is no fee to participate.
Comic Art & Drawing Club - Sponsor: Justice Cutler
- The Comic Art and Drawing Club is a club dedicated to the development and cultivation of young artist who want to learn basic fundamentals in Manga and Marvel/DC comic art. The purpose is to expand students imagination and education in storytelling, sequential art and illustration techniques. The group is limited to 15 students ( 5 from each grade level). Meetings will take place Mondays and Thursdays from 4:30PM - 6:00PM. Students must be passing ALL classes, have a minimum of 2 referrals and will be monitored by weekly attendance and progress reports. The cost is $25. Cost covers sketchbooks and art supplies
Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) - Sponsor: Vincent Hill

DECA is an organization that encourages students to develop skills in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. DECA helps students by increasing leadership skills and confidence by providing experiences in which students can grow and show their professionalism. Students from 6th-8th grade are welcome to join. The cost is $24.00 ($12.00 for membership and $12.00 for competition fees. Our Meetings for DECA are every other Monday after school, starting at 4:30 pm and ending at 6:00 pm in Mr. Hill's classroom. Visit www.gadeca.org and www.deca.org
Girls Volleyball - Head Coach: R. Rodgers; Assistant Coaches: M. Lorminey and Z. White
- Who Are We….. We are a program which strives to develop our players in becoming the complete package on and off the court. We empower our players that if they work hard, there is NOTHING that can stand in their way to greatness. Our program focuses on developing athletes to have the stamina/endurance, skill set, and mindset to tackle their opponents. Through solid coaching, parent involvement, and determination we know our players will have the tools needed for success beyond the volleyball court. JLC Raider Team - Sponsor: MSgt Hicks
- Junior Leadership Corps (JLC) Drill and Raider teams provide a fun experience for students by allowing them to participate in team-building activities which include discipline, physical fitness, responsibility, and leadership skills. This will be an elite group of JLC students who will represent Shiloh Middle at various community functions, competitions, and any school-related events.
- Students on the Drill and Raider team will be eligible to earn a JLC Achievement pins for participation on the team. JLC Raider Team will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. The Drill Team will start to meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 starting in January 2025. Being a part of the Drill and Raider team is voluntary for JLC students. This group is open to all grade levels and has a limit of 48 students. Cost: FREE
Jr. HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) - Sponsor: Miss Larkins
- What is HOSA?
- HOSA is a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services and several federal and state agencies. HOSA’s mission is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community, through education, collaboration, and experience. HOSA actively promotes career opportunities in the health industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA’s goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to affiliate and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.

LEGO League - Sponsor: Miss Larkins
- LEGO® League introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to students in middle school through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem solving experience through a guided, global robotics program, helping today's students and teachers build a better future together. LEGO® League inspires youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics.
- LEGO® League is open to students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades and has a limit of 12 students. From these 12 students, 10 will make-up the Shiloh Middle MegaMindz competition team, which will compete in December. The other 2 students will be alternates for the competition team.
- Attendance at practices and competitions is required of all 12 members, without exception. If students join another club or organization that interferes with their attendance at LEGO® League practice or competition, they will be asked to leave the team.
- Students who are interested in trying out for our Shiloh Middle MegaMindz LEGO® League competition team should attend the first official meeting being held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. At this meeting the Coaches will begin observing students to determine their eligibility for LEGO® League. The meeting will be held in the Engineering and Technology Classroom, Room 1.207, located across from the cafeteria on mainstreet.
- The cost to join LEGO® League is $75.00 which will cover the competition shirt and other supplies as needed. Only the 12 students selected to be on the Shiloh Middle MegaMindz competition team will be given access to pay the fees in MyPayments Plus.
- LEGO® League meetings will be held EVERY Thursday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm unless otherwise announced during the school day and communicated to parents.
- LEGO League will conclude at the end of the competition season in December, unless the team advances to the Regional Tournament, etc.
LOTUS Mentoring Club - Sponsor: Brittany Johnson and Mona Arestil
- We are pleased to inform you about Shiloh Middle School’s LOTUS mentoring program for our 6th-8th grade female students. LOTUS stands for Ladies of Tenacity, Uniqueness, and Strength. The purpose of this program is to establish a mentoring relationship between female school-based staff that will provide your scholar with the opportunity to realize both personal development goals, and academic goals.
- Mentors will meet with their mentees for at least 30 minutes weekly to discuss any areas of academic concern and/or to complete various skill-building activities centered around social emotional development (examples: time management, emotional expression, self-esteem, communication, decision-making etc). The times of these meetings will be discussed individually between the mentee and their mentor.
- Mentees and mentors will also be expected to attend monthly whole group workshops after school. These monthly meetings will be held every 3rd Wednesday of the month starting in September. There is a $30 participation fee which will cover light refreshments during monthly meetings and any additional materials needed such as craft supplies. The fee can be paid on My Payments Plus. Photography Club - Sponsor: N. Simpson
- Are you a Shiloh Middle School student (grades 6-8) who enjoys capturing moments? Join our Photography Club! We’ll dive into photography, learn basic techniques, and share creative expression. Get ready for:

Shiloh Sow Beautiful Garden Club - Sponsor: Ms. C. Smith and Mrs. Stallworth
- The Shiloh Sow Beautiful Garden Club will stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening in our students. The Garden Club will combine hands-on experiences with the joy of growing our own edible plants with others in the Shiloh Student Garden. We will meet on Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. during the fall and spring semester. This group is open to all grade levels and has a limit of 15 students. Cost: $25 covers t-shirt and activity supplies.
Soccer - Sponsor: Cristian Rivas and Tia Secrest
- Official middle school Sport. The Purpose of the club will be to improve student's soccer skill. All grade levels can participate. 15 boys and 15 girls will be selected to join the team. The cost will be $250.
Step Team - Sponsor: Steward, Stepp, Thurman
- The Step Team is a dynamic and inclusive group dedicated to the art of stepping, a percussive dance form that uses the body as an instrument to create intricate rhythms and beats through stomping, clapping, and vocal expressions. Our team celebrates creativity, discipline, and unity, blending movement and sound to tell powerful stories and foster a sense of community among members.
- The purpose of the Step Team is to promote cultural expression by celebrating the rich history and significance of stepping while embracing diversity. We aim to foster teamwork and leadership by building camaraderie and collaboration through synchronized routines and group performances.
- Additionally, the Step Team encourages personal growth by helping members develop confidence, discipline, and perseverance through rigorous practice and performance opportunities. We strive to inspire school spirit by representing our school proudly at events, competitions, and community activities, showcasing our skills and dedication. Lastly, the Step Team empowers creativity by providing a space for members to choreograph routines, contribute ideas, and express themselves artistically.
- Our team welcomes students of all skill levels and backgrounds, united by a shared passion for rhythm, movement, and self-expression. For the first 15 minutes of each practice, we will condition with running, squats, stretching, wall sits, burpees, etc. We require conditioning both at practice and at home. At the first practice every month, we send home a guided conditioning plan with the steppers. The at-home conditioning should take about 15-20 minutes per day.
- All grade levels can partake in the step team. We are limit to 10 students every year. Step Team practices Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:30pm-6:00pm for both semesters until April 22. Dues are $100, covers the T-Shirt and Hoodie.

Student Council - Sponsor: Dr. Shirley Ballard, Carlyn Canterbury, and Sheba Morrison
- Student Council helps share students’ ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and school principals. Student Council focuses on leadership skills and often help raise funds for schoolwide activities, including social events, community projects, and helping people in need. Student Council will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the fall and spring semesters. This group is open to all grade levels and has a limit of 40 students. Class President elections are held for 6th grade students. Cost: $60.00 covers t-shirt, district events and supplies.
Technology Student Association (TSA) - Sponsor: Miss Larkins
- What is TSA?
- TSA is a Career and Technical Student Organization open to students who have a genuine interest in developing skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as well as business education. TSA aims to develop leadership, academic, and business management skills in the workplace among students and leaders within the community. Tennis Club - Sponsor: Kane Mills, Clarissa Haynes, Mesach Barker, Darin Edgecomb
- Tennis club will be hosted on the high school courts twice a week. We will hold games, drills, and team building exercises. We have four tennis coaches so students will have plenty of support.
- Goal: The purpose of this club is to introduce students to the sport of tennis and help them improve their skills. This club will become a team next year so the club will also prepare students should they want to play on the team. Our ultimate goal at the end of the day is to have fun.
- Everyone is welcome! This club is open to all grade levels and all skill levels.
- Limit- 16 students
- Cost- 100 We are trying to keep the cost relatively low with the help of grant funding to make the sport more accessible. This fee will go towards equipment, food, and gear.
Theater/Drama Club - Sponsor: Ms. C. Chandler
- Theatre/Drama Club will Foster Creativity, Enhance Theatre Skills, Promote Cultural Appreciation, and Build the Community. It's open to all students who have an interest in theatre, whether they are seasoned performers, aspiring playwrights, or those curious about stage design and production. Meetings will be held every Wednesday at 4:40 p.m. Theatre dues are $50 which covers basic costs such as production materials, supplies, meals, and etc.
Track Club - Sponsor: Eric Williams, Shelly Crump, Cotrena Smith, Ransley Bazile
- Mission
- Our mission is to create a safe, structured, supportive, and fun environment for student-athletes to have a positive and meaningful experience participating on a successful middle school athletic team. We promote student’s success in the classroom to build leaders for our society’s future.

- To enhance our athletes’ talents and abilities by providing challenging workouts within a safe supportive environment.
- The track club is open to all students in grades 6-8. Track will meet Monday-Friday from 4:45 p.m. to 6:30-7:00 p.m. during the spring semester. This group is open to all grade levels and has a limit of 75 students per group. Cost: $450.00- $500.00(cost goes towards uniforms, track meet entry, lunches, bus transportation)
Video Broadcast Journalism (News Crew) - Sponsor: Ms. Mathews
- Students in Video Broadcast Journalism produce the morning news show. Students are selected based upon application and teacher recommendation. Video Broadcast Journalism meets daily from 8:30 a.m. to 9:10 a.m. in the fall and spring semesters. This group is open to all grade levels and has a limit of 10 students. Cost: FREE
Yearbook - Sponsor: Ms. Mathews
- Yearbook club members will take photos at school events and help create this year's yearbook. Grades 6-8 can apply. Limited to 8 students. Group will meet in the mornings on Tuesdays from 8:15 to 9:00am beginning at the end of September. Cost is $15 and includes staff t-shirt.
