    • Alcova Elementary School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with distinguished status for its implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct. 

                 

    • All students at Alcova Elementary School get the opportunity to take a Computer Science special. In these classes, they learn the building blocks of how computers work, laying the foundation for further coursework that they will be able to take in middle school. In addition to the core specials classes, all students will participate in Spanish, Drama, STEM, and a class focused on improving the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) of all students.

     

    • Alcova Elementary School offers students the opportunity to engage in various extracurricular activities, including Alcova cheer and dance teams, Alcova Singers, Beta Club Boys with Purpose, Drama, Girls on the Run, Good News Club, TOME, and Robotics. Over 200 students participated in at least one extracurricular club last school year.

     

    • Alcova Elementary School allows students to engage in Agriculture STEM specials. During this special, the students help take care of our STEM Garden and Alcova's chickens. The students learn about sustainability and how to take care of our environment. The students are able to learn about the lifecycle of a plant and chickens. The produce and eggs collected through AgSTEM allow Alcova to help less fortunate families in our area.

     

    • Alcova promoted cultural awareness and community unity through celebrations of Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, International Night, and our annual Community Kickball Tournament.

     

    • To support school readiness, Alcova hosted rising kindergartners over the summer and offered Play 2 Learn two days a week during the school year. During Play 2 Learn, families with children from birth to age 5 worked with a certified teacher to prepare their children for school.

     

    • Alcova's parent center provided instructional resources to promote academic success for students. Through parent workshops and evening programs sponsored by the Parent Center, parents learned ways to help their child improve in reading, mathematics, science, social studies, writing, and test-taking strategies. The center also offered English classes for non-English-speaking parents, and cooking classes.
