Welcome to the greatest middle school in the nation! My name is Ms. Schoonover and I will be serving all 8th graders here at Trickum. I grew up close by in Tucker, GA, attended Dekalb County Public Schools, and graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Psychology in 2016. Soon after graduating, I dabbled in nannying before I started my Master's program in School Counseling at Georgia State University, receiving my degree in May 2019. In 2021, I graduated from the University of West Georgia with a specialist in School Counseling. I am very excited about calling Trickum my home. Today's world is so fast paced and stimulating; our students need to be able to take a deep breath, process what they're feeling, and develop skills to work through difficult times. If you step into my office, you will find a cozy atmosphere with a calming energy and dim lighting. I like to provide my students with a safe place where they can just "be". You will also see many photos of folks (human and animal kind) that matter most to me, three of them being my husband, our new baby, and our dog, Lucy. You can find the four of us obsessing over sports, taking long walks in our neighborhood, watching documentaries, or finding new and fun restaurants to enjoy. I hope I can be the support that our 8th graders need here at Trickum as they navigate being a teenager. I love being a Trickum Tiger and I'm glad I get to play a role in ensuring learning for all to our students.
