  • Counseling Program Vision

    The vision of Annistown Elementary School’s Comprehensive School Counseling Program is for all students to become lifelong learners and world-class citizens by empowering them to become motivated, self-sufficient, self-aware, innovative thinkers.  Through a collaborative culture of active consultation with teachers, parents, administrators and community organizations, students will be equipped to compete in a global society.

  • Counseling Program Mission

    The mission of Annistown Elementary School counseling program is to provide comprehensive developmental services supporting the social-emotional, college-career and academic growth of all students to help develop productive citizens in our community. The counselor creates a safe and respectful learning environment that removes barriers hindering academic and social success.  The comprehensive counseling program aligns with the American School Counselors Association (ASCA) and is a school improvement tool.

  • Counseling Program Beliefs

    • All students have diverse strengths, needs, and abilities that contribute to their academic, personal, social and career goals.
    • Students developmental needs are addressed through interventions in academics, career, and personal/social domains
    • School Counselors role is to recognize student abilities and assist them in maximizing their potentials, equip students with the skills necessary for them to achieve their academic and career goals, help students develop a healthy self-concept and acceptance of individual differences.
    • School counselors provide equal access to counseling services in order to close the achievement gap by providing knowledge, skills, and opportunities for students.
    • The School Counseling Program helps build a positive school environment by encouraging collaboration among counselors, teachers, administrators, parents and the community to eliminate barriers and further student achievement
    • School counselors collect, analyze and present statistics about grades, test scores, attendance and disciplinary records, and other information to make databased and data-driven decisions about the school counseling program.
    • The American School Counselor Association Ethical Standards should guide the work of the School Counseling program and the School Counselors
