Dear Parents & Students:

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am your new 8^th Grade Professional School Counselor, Ms. Michelle Burger. Although I am new to Lilburn, I am not new to school counseling. I have worked for the past six (6) years at the high school level and prior to that I worked with 8^th grade students for five (5) years at Trickum Middle School. 

My prior high school experience makes me uniquely qualified to assist 8^th graders as they prepare to transition to high school.  Specifically, I will assist students individually in the areas of academics, behavior, building relationships, time management and organization, as well as goal setting and decision-making. I will also provide classroom guidance lessons and skills throughout the year on the following topics:

• Preparing for college and careers
• Developing four-year graduation plans
• Organization and Time Management
• Leadership Skills (8^th Grade Peer Leadership group)
• Solution-Focused Communication
• Conflict Resolution Skills/Bullying Prevention

Our counseling department also offers a wide variety of services to parents and students. Those students in need, can have access to ongoing clinical counseling through our list of resources and services.
