Music Industry

  • If you are a creative student that enjoys performing musically and wants to gain additional skills using professional music software and technology, you will find the Music Industry program to be highly rewarding as you sharpen your craft.

Informal class discussions and lectures let you spend a great amount of time working on music projects at an individual professional workstation.

With an introduction to composing, digital recording, and music editing in a state-of-the-art classroom, you will learn how to create original songs and full accompaniments using the latest sequencing software, how to write music using notation software, and how to generate and edit MIDI files for electronic transfer. There will be many opportunities for using your creativity to generate original music compositions.

You will also compose and record music for use in film scoring, video production, and commercial advertising. Additionally, sound reinforcement equipment and techniques will be studied and will include hands-on training with P.A. systems.

By recording and mixing your own projects onto CD, you will have a portfolio of professional-level work as you seek employment or placement in a college music program. Learning how to edit and compress different audio file formats for broadcast and internet applications will allow you to share your work with a wide audience online.
