Mission and Vision of the Counseling Department

Ivy Creek's Development School Counseling program seeks to provide exceptional service to all students, parents, and staff members. Our comprehensive program is developmentally designed to encourage students to achieve their highest potential socially, emotionally and academically.

Mrs. Spencer

Counselor for 5th grade

Laura Spencer graduated from Toccoa Falls College with a BS in Christian Counseling and Psychology. She earned her Master's Degree from Clemson University in Professional Counseling and then returned for an add-on degree in School Counseling. She began her Counseling career in 1998. She has experience working with adults suffering from addiction and mental illness. In 2002, she became a Licensed Professional Counselor and also began fulfilling her passion, which is working for the Gwinnett County Public Schools. Mrs. Spencer joined the Ivy Creek family in 2005. Her passion is to see that every child reaches his/her full potential in life. She believes our goal as educators is to raise healthy adults.

Mrs. Butler

Counselor for Kindergarten and 1st grade

Lauren Butler graduated from the University of Georgia in 2004 with a BA in Sociology. Go DAWGS! She earned her Masters Degree in School Counseling from Georgia Southern University in 2007 and has been part of the Ivy Creek staff since 2007. She believes school counselors are the first line of support for students and hopes to help guide them in their elementary journey.

Counselor for 2nd and 3rd grades

Sydni Vinson graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2018 with a B.S. in Child and Family Development. She earned her Master’s Degree in School Counseling at Georgia State University in 2021. Ms. Vinson joined the Ivy Creek staff in 2021. Ms. Vinson has a desire to be an advocate for children and to inspire them to do their personal best in their lives. Ms. Vinson has a passion for students to succeed academically and socially so they can become responsible, independent adults.
