Health and Personal Fitness classes are courses required for graduation. The health class is designed to offer a practical approach to topics that concern adolescents. The course covers knowledge and skills necessary for personal health and wellbeing and the prevention and treatment of injury. Additional information covered in health class includes: disease prevention, relationships, consumer health, the life cycle, tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use prevention. The Personal Fitness class is designed to teach the necessary knowledge to maintain health-enhancing fitness for a lifetime. Aerobic activities such as jogging, weight lifting and fitness stations will be used to learn about how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The Health and Physical Education department offers a class called Team Sports, where the student learn rules, skills and can demonstrate competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of activities. We also offer Sports Medicine, which teaches about sports injuries and how to treat the different injuries. They learn to compare and contrast the roles of different sports training programs. Male students may take weight training and females may take body sculpting classes. These two programs teach students skills to be able to design and perform their own weight training program.
