Janice Jackson - SSW II

  • Greetings! I am Janice Jackson a GCPS School Social Worker II. I serve as the team lead for the School Social Workers in Peachtree Ridge, Duluth, North Gwinnett, and Lanier Clusters. I also provide direct casework, service coordination, and crisis intervention services to students, families, and local school staff.

I graduated from Penn State (WE ARE!) with my bachelor’s and received my master’s from the University of Pittsburgh. I have over a decade of social work experience in different settings but so far education has been my favorite. Working with students has allowed me the opportunity to utilize my creative skills to help them see that learning is important. We are here to enhance the district’s mission to remove barriers to education and help students reach their full potential.

My office is located right here at Mason E.S. It is an absolute pleasure to see your babies walking down the Mason hallways.

Renee Lake, LMSW

  • PhotoHi there! My name is Renée Lake, and I am the newest social worker for the Peachtree Ridge cluster. I have been working as a social worker for 8 years with children and families, and I am thrilled to now be here serving the students and families of Mason Elementary! My office is located in Northbrook Middle School, but I travel between all of our cluster schools to help meet the needs of all of our students.

I graduated with my Bachelor of Social Work from Colorado State University, then went on to get my Master of Social Work from UGA. I am passionate about walking alongside families and children to offer support wherever it is needed—whether that be mental health resources, housing, food, medical services, or any other need, especially those that present a barrier to educational success. Being a school social worker allows me the opportunity not only to get to know our students, but to also get to know their families and be the bridge between schools, home, and the community—it is my greatest pleasure to serve in this role!
