Currently enrolling over 240 students, BCMS Orchestra has a history of excellence.
For the past 8 years, orchestras have earned straight superior ratings at GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation.

2021-2022 School Year
- 7th and 8th grade orchestras both earned superior scores at LGPE performing level 2 and 3 music respectively,
- 8th grade orchestra also earned a superior rating in Sightreading
- Thirteen 7th and 8th grade students participated in Solo & Ensemble Evaluation, earning ALL superior ratings!
2020-2021 School Year
- Students maintained a high level of instruction & remained a traditional performance level despite being 60% digital learners
- Bass player Haley Lindsay was selected as an alternate for All State Orchestra
- A socially distanced, masked final concert was held in May with a drumset player to provide percussion on our pops tunes
2019-2020 School Year
- 7th grade viola player Christopher Johnson auditioned into Kendall Honor Orchestra, the county level middle school honor orchestra. He is the first 7th grader in the school's history to make it into this elite ensemble.
- 8th Grade Orchestra invited to perform at Kennesaw State University Orchestra Invitational, receiving high honors in the judges' comments.
- Twenty-two 7th and 8th grade students participated in Solo & Ensemble Evaluation, earning 6 superior ratings and 2 excellent ratings.
2018-19 School Year
- Straight superior ratings (including a perfect score!) at Large Group Performance Evaluation for both 7th and 8th grade Orchestras
- Viola player Keith Hudson auditioned into Kendall Honor Orchestra, the county level middle school honor orchestra.
- 8th Grade orchestra invited to perform for the Kennesaw State University Orchestra Invitational, one of only 4 middle school orchestras selected to attend.
- A chamber ensemble of 8th graders performed at the Governor's Mansion during the open holiday tours
- Twenty-two 6th grade students selected to perform at 6th Grade Honor Orchestra
- Twenty-four 7th and 8th grade students participated in Solo & Ensemble Evaluation earning 8 superior and 3 excellent ratings.
2017-18 School Year
- High superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluation for both 7th and 8th grade Orchestras
- Violin player Briana Darden auditioned into Kendall Honor Orchestra, the county-level honor orchestra for 6-9th graders.
- An eighth grade viola choir was selected to perform in the lobby of the Classic Center in Athens as part of the opening ceremonies of the GMEA In-Service Conference.
- 36 7th and 8th grade students participated in Solo & Ensemble Evaluation earning 12 superior and 3 excellent ratings.
- Small ensembles requested to perform at feeder elementary schools (Grayson ES and Trip ES) Fine Arts Nights.
- Educational program presented at Grayson Public Library for children & families.
- Twenty-five 6th grade students selected to perform at 6th Grade Honor Orchestra
2016-17 School Year
- Superior Ratings at LGPE for 7th and 8th Grade Orchestras
- 44 students participated in Solo & Ensemble Evaluation, earning 18 superior ratings and 4 excellent ratings.
- A chamber ensemble performed at Grayson Public Library's 10th Anniversary celebration.
- Over $1000 provided in scholarships to help students attend orchestra summer camps.
- Twenty 6th grade students selected to perform at 6th grade honor orchestra
2015-16 School Year
- Bass player Ashley Nation auditioned into Kendall Honor Orchestra, the county middle school honor orchestra.
- Bass player Ashley Nation auditioned into GMEA All State Orchestra, becoming the first instrumentalist from Bay Creek to earn a spot in this prestigious ensemble.
- Superior Ratings at LGPE for 7th and 8th grade orchestras.
- 22 students participated in Solo & Ensemble evaluation earning 8 superior and 4 excellent ratings.
- Select group of 8th grade students invited to perform at the Governor's Mansion while it was open for Christmas tours.
- Over $600 provided in scholarships to help students attend orchestra summer camps.
2014-2015 School Year
- Superior Ratings at LGPE for 7th and 8th grade orchestras (first time 7th grade attended this event)
- 13 students participated in Solo & Ensemble Evaluation (first time students from BCMS participated), earning 5 superior and 3 excellent ratings.
