• HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION


    The Norcoss High School Health and Physical Education Department offers many courses that help students improve their quality of life! The courses required for graduation are Introduction to Lifetime Fitness and Introduction to Health. Each are a semester long course, mainly for freshmen. Lifetime Fitness focuses on the physical aspects of exercise, the health-related components of fitness, and how to develop a life long plan for fitness. Introduction to Health focuses on the total human being. Physical, mental, social and emotional aspects of one's health are discussed in-depth. The units for this class include decision making, violence prevention, nutrition, and prevention of the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs, as well as CPR, First Aid and family life education. The Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP) is part of the health curriculum, which is required by the state of Georgia in order to obtain a driver's license. The Health and PE Department also offer many electives including beginning and advanced weight training, aerobics, body scuplting, team sports (for boys and girls), outdoor education, and general physical education. Our team of teachers is excited and well trained in our curriculum, where a student's health and wellness is always the focus!
