This is a game of creative mathematics where students in grades 4th and 5th solve math problems to become critical thinkers with an integration of math, science, and language arts. If interested, please email adrianprather@agloa.org for additional information.

Art Club

Grades: 4th and 5th (fall)             Sponsor: Jamie Aristizabal 

              2nd and 3rd (spring)

Students will explore a variety of studio processes including printmaking, weaving, and ceramics. Students will learn how to use art tools and materials in a meaningful, safe way to create personal works of art.

Card Games

We will be playing all types of card games; Uno, Qwitch, Life, Monopoly Go, traditional games, and much more.

Chess Club

We are delighted to offer our families GASP!, Georgia After-School Program for the upcoming school year. GASP provides safe, fun & affordable after-school care M-F until 6:30 pm RIGHT AT OUR SCHOOL. Creative Movement and Dance

Grades K - 1st           Sponsor: Oksana Butler

An exciting dance class that offers a wide range of fun and upbeat movement. Since children naturally respond to music and movement, all of the activities are presented through popular dance music. In the program, children learn class discipline, listening skills, coordination skills, basic right, and left skills, patterns in movement, and basic dance techniques.

Starbots

Grades 2 and 3            Sponsor: Kathryn Arnold

Explore Team: In First Lego League (FLL) Robotics, students learn about computer coding, robot assembly and operation, and learn to solve a real world problem while competing against teams from other schools. Students present different aspects of their solution at competition and compete in a robot challenge based on the problem they are solving.

Day: Tuesdays in January- March        Time: Tuesday 3:50-5:00pm

Robostars

There are 2 different teams!!! Good News Club

Good News Club is a free after-school Christian Club complete with snacks, games, Bible Stories, music, and fun! We will meet on Monday afternoons from 3:00-4:30 in the media center. Register your child online at www.goodnewsclubgwinnett.org.

News Crew

5th grade students will rotate through various broadcast roles for the length of one month. Students will be chosen in groups of 5.

Odyssey of the Mind

OM brings the classroom to life as students apply what they learn and combine it with their interests and passions to solve our unique open-ended problems. OM also emphasizes teamwork, budgeting, time management, public speaking, and so much more.

PE Club

Grades 4 and 5           Sponsor: Kevin Halron

Students will learn and participate in track and field events including the mile run. Students will be expected to participate in the end of year track meet at Norcross High School. Students will compete against other Norcross area elementary schools.

Peer Leaders

Grade 5          Sponsor: Sheri Terry

Peer Leaders in grade 5 help to guide younger students toward academic press and positive community in their role of supporters, peer mentors, and role models. Some responsibilities include PBIS Store support and helping to raise the flag and take it down each afternoon.

Reader's Rally

Grades 4 and 5           Sponsor: Taylor Cook, Monica Dierkes, and Gayle Dingler

 The Gwinnett Readers Rally is a quiz bowl-style competition for students in grades 4 – 12. Students read books from a predetermined list and answer questions about those books. Each Gwinnett County school may send one team of up to 10 players to the Readers Rally. For the 2023-2024 school year, there were 87 teams that participated in the annual county-wide competition at Peachtree Ridge High School. The Gwinnett County Readers Rally Competition is typically held the third weekend in February each year.

Recycling Club

Grade 4            Sponsor: Kathryn Arnold

The Recycling Club is comprised of 4th grade students who wish to help our environment through recycling. Students will collect paper recycling every Friday morning during morning arrival. Six 5th grade students who were part of the team last year serve as captains to help manage each of the 6 zones.

Safety Patrol

Grade 5             Sponsor: Chadd Stern and Jose Rivera

Safety Patrols take the Kindergarten and First grade students to their buses in the afternoon during dismissal. Each Safety Patrol wears a green belt. Safety Patrols will meet each month with Mr. Riveraa and Mr. Stern, or as needed.

Simpson Singers

Grades 5             Sponsor: Meaghan Curry

Simpson Singers is available to any 5th grade student who enjoys singing and making music. We will explore music primarily through singing and movement-based activities to prepare for two concerts during the year. Simpson Singers will be joined by all 5th graders to sing the National Anthem at a professional sports event in the Spring.

Spanish

Grades 4-5             Sponsor: Jose Rivera

The Spanish Club's mission is to promote awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the Spanish-speaking countries around the world, their language, music, arts and food. Students will learn different styles of music and play instruments, they will learn about different types of food, dances, and art from Spanish-speaking countries. 

Day: Last Tuesday of every month           Time: 7:45-8:15

Story Craft Book Club

Grades 3 and 4           Sponsor: Monica Dierkes

Students meet one Friday per month to discuss a suggested book. Students will also serve at Library Committee members and preview new books to the media center. Activites may include crafts, readers theater, and book duscussions.
