Financial Literacy at Phoenix High School
Do you like to earn money? Do you want to AVOID living paycheck to paycheck? Do you want to learn how to build wealth? Join my class! This course is designed for high school students to understand the importance of personal finance. Areas of study taught through application include:
- Budgeting
- Banking
- College and career planning
- Consumer protection
- Credit
- Financing a house and a car
- Insurance
- Investing
- Sources of income (pay), employer benefits, and working laws
- Taxes
Students will apply mathematical concepts in realistic scenarios and will actively engage by applying the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions related to personal finance. Financial Literacy places great emphasis on problem solving, reasoning, representing, interpreting and communicating financial data.
Various forms of technologies and internet research will be highlighted to expose students to resources available to help them obtain their personal financial goals. Employability skills are integrated in assignments throughout the course demonstrate skills required by business and industry.
