GSMST Lottery Qualifiers

  •  The GSMST lottery application is open to all eighth-grade students who meet all three criteria below:

    1. My child has custodial residency within Gwinnett County (but outside the city limits of Buford), Georgia.
    2. My child is currently in 8th grade and is expected to be promoted to 9th grade by June 1, 2025.
    3. My child is currently enrolled in a math curriculum that fits into the category listed in the chart below:
    8th Grade Math Course Lottery Criteria (Class of 2029)
     Enhanced Algebra: Concepts and Connections (or higher math course)

    Earn a first semester grade of 90% or higher AND

    A) Earn a score of 550 or higher on the math component of the PSAT 8/9 or SAT.

                     -OR-

    B) Earn a score of 85% or higher on a GSMST administered math assessment on May 3, 2025.

    **For students that attempted both A) and B) above but did not meet the qualifying score for either option, a score in the "Distinguished" level of achievement on the GA Milestones Algebra EOC math assessment (in May 2025) must be earned to meet eligibility.  This option is only available to public school students that completed A) and B) (the EOC is only administered in GA public schools).

Information Nights for 8th Grade Families

  • Below are the dates for the three Informational Meetings that provide information to students/parents interested in attending GSMST. All meetings begin at 7:00 PM in the Cafeteria at GSMST, and the information presented will be the same at all three meetings.

    • Thursday, November 14, 2024 – Archer Cluster, Brookwood Cluster, Dacula Cluster, Grayson Cluster, Mill Creek Cluster, Mountain View Cluster, Parkview Cluster, Shiloh Cluster, South Gwinnett Cluster
    • Wednesday, December 11, 2024 – Berkmar Cluster, Central Gwinnett Cluster, Collins Hill Cluster, Discovery Cluster, Duluth Cluster, Lanier Cluster, Meadowcreek Cluster, Norcross Cluster, North Gwinnett Cluster, Peachtree Ridge Cluster, Seckinger Cluster
    • Thursday, January 9, 2025 – make-up meeting date for anyone unable to attend the first two meeting dates

  • If false information is provided at any time during the lottery cycle, your student's lottery application will be voided and your student will no longer have an opportunity to attend GSMST.


    The application deadline is Friday, January 17, 2025 at 4:00 PM EST.
