Technology Vision and Mission

  • The mission of the technology department at Cooper is to enhance teaching and learning through the successful integration of technology into the curriculum.

We believe that the most effective way to accomplish this mission is to provide ongoing professional development opportunities for our teachers so they may improve their level of technological fluency. We also provide staff development for teachers, which consists of a variety of 40 minute mini-lessons during teacher planning times.

Chromebooks at Cooper

  • Cooper Elementary School is no longer a BYOD school.  The district has adopted a 1:1 technology model for students in grades 3rd-5th, meaning that each student in those grade levels will be issued a Chromebook for the remainder of their time at Cooper ES. The same device will follow the student as they progress through each grade level within the school.  Students in grades K-2nd will have access to Chromebooks, and may take a school device home as needed (digital learning days, special assignments, etc.).

Cell phones are not to be used by students in school.  Understanding the need for some students to have access to a cell phone before or after school hours, it is expected that student cell phones are turned off and secured in the student’s book bag during the school day and while on the bus.  If parents/guardians need to get an urgent message to their student during the school day, they should reach out to the classroom teacher and/or call the school’s main office.

Other electronic devices that could distract from the learning environment are not permitted.

A fully equipped video production lab is available for student and teacher use. Students can shoot and edit their own video productions using the audio visual and editing equipment found in this lab. This is the location from which our live news show is broadcast each morning. WWJC consists of a team of 5th grade students who rotate every six to nine weeks. The news program is directed and produced by the students and is sponsored by Mrs. Watson.
