Art Club
Art Club 2021-2022
Mission: The Mission of art club to explore art activities and media that we do not explore in class. This club is designed to enhance your art skills and help you explore more art forms. Art club is designed for those who are passionate about art and want to learn to become a better artist.
Faculty: Ms. Callahan
Support: Ms. Fraundorf
Planned activities: This year in art club we will be exploring weaving, tie dyeing, printmaking, drawing, painting, clay building and wheel throwing.
Start date is September 23, 2021
End date is April 21, 2022
Day and time of meeting: Art club meets on Friday mornings at 7:20.
Art club is open to only 4th and 5th grade.
All members will be asked to apply in order to be considered. All members will be selected by Ms. Callahan.

Chorus
Alford Chorus
Purpose / Mission: The purpose of the Alford Chorus is to provide enriching musical experiences outside of the general music classroom that will allow students to work collaboratively toward performances. Our mission is to create an environment which allows students to grow as musicians, build relationships with each other and become lifelong supporters of the arts.
Faculty Advisor: Mr. DeWitt
Activities: Members of the Alford Chorus will spend time rehearsing challenging music to prepare for performance. We will practice a variety of vocal music, incorporating music for barred instruments (xylophones) and other percussion instruments as well.
Meeting Dates / Days: The Alford Chorus meets on Monday mornings from 7:30 – 8:15. We will begin meeting on September 26th. Chorus will have its final meeting date in April, after our final performance.
Participants: 4th and 5th Grade may participate in this club

FIRST Lego League
FIRST Lego League Robotics Club
FIRST has a set of Core Values that are Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork and Fun. We will teach the students all the core values while completing this year’s Challenge called Cargo Connect! Transportation drives us forward – impacting economies, bridging cultures, and making us all more globally interconnected. In 2022-2023 FIRST® LEGO® League’s CARGO CONNECTSM, participants will learn how cargo is transported, sorted, and delivered to its destinations.
We will be researching how to make a more sustainable future and completing the challenge mat while programming the robot. Students will also learn how to code a robot and how to get it to complete the missions that are assigned. The club will meet on Wednesday mornings at 7:30 until the competition.
The 5th Grade Competition team will start September 7 and will end in December (depending on competition dates).
The 4th Grade team will start in January (depending on competition dates) and end in April.

FIRST Lego League Discover
FIRST Lego League Discover
Introductory STEM programme which develops key habits of learning through play. Children investigate a real-world theme and work as a team to design a solution. We will participate in a showcase in March.
The club will meet Mondays at 7:30 from January until March.
Art club is open to students in 1st and 2nd grade.
All members will be asked to apply in order to be considered. All members will be selected by Mrs. Breedlove.

FIRST Lego League Explore
FIRST Lego League Explore
FIRST LEGO League Explore is a non-competitive robotics program designed for grades 2nd and 3rd. It is one of the programs established by FIRST. FIRST LEGO League Explore follows the same theme given to the FIRST LEGO League Challenge. Students will participate in a showcase in March.
The club will meet Wednesdays at 7:30 from January until March.
Art club is open to students in 2nd and 3rd grade.
All members will be asked to apply in order to be considered. All members will be selected by Mrs. Breedlove.

Garden Club
Garden Club
Purpose / Mission: The purpose of the Garden Club is to provide education, resources, and community networking opportunities for its members to promote the love of gardening and environmental responsibility.
Faculty Advisors: Russell Pefinis, Erin Carlton, LaRonda Crafield
Activities: Students in Garden Club will engage in planting and sowing seeds, building garden props, growing your own salad, painting landscape rocks, building a beneficial bee house or bird feeder, and learning about beneficial insects
Meeting Dates / Days: Monday Mornings from the first week of Fall - Thanksgiving break and March - April.
Participants: Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade may join the Garden Club.

Modern Band Club
Alford Modern Band Club
Purpose / Mission: The purpose of the Alford Modern band club is to provide enriching musical experiences outside of the general music classroom that will allow students to work with instruments and musical styles from the popular music of the 1950’s through the present. Our mission is to create an environment which allows students to grow as musicians, build relationships with each other and become lifelong supporters of the arts.
Faculty Advisor: Mr. DeWitt
Activities: Members of the Alford Modern Band Club will learn the basics of how to play Guitar, Bass, Keyboards and Drums using music from the last 70 years of popular music.
Meeting Dates / Days: The Alford Modern Band Club meets on Friday mornings from 7:30 – 8:15. We will begin meeting on September 30th. This club will continue to meet until the end of April.
Participants: 5th Grade students may participate in this club

Orff Ensemble
Alford Orff Ensemble
Purpose / Mission: The purpose of the Alford Orff Ensemble is to provide enriching musical experiences by playing instruments and moving to music which will allow students to work collaboratively toward performances. Our mission is to create an environment which allows students to grow as musicians, build relationships between each other and become lifelong supporters of the arts.
Faculty Advisor: Mr. DeWitt
Activities: Members of the Alford Orff Ensemble will spend time rehearsing challenging music to prepare for performance. We will practice a variety of instrumental music and movement to prepare music for our winter and spring performances.
Meeting Dates / Days: The Alford Orff Ensemble meets on Wednesday mornings from 7:30 – 8:15 beginning September 28.
Participants: 4th and 5th Grade may participate in this club.

Reader's Rally
Reader's Rally
Mission/purpose: The Gwinnett Readers Rally is a quiz bowl style competition for students in 4th and 5th grade. Students read books from a predetermined list and answer questions about those books. Each Gwinnett County school may send one team of up to 10 players to the Readers Rally.
Faculty advisors: Erin Carlton and Emily Bennett
Descriptions of planned activities: Students read books from a predetermined list and practice to be able to answer questions relating to the content of those books. We will meet Wednesdays starting in September and going until the competition date on February 25, 2023.

Sports Club
Sports Club
The mission of Intramural Sports Club: To motivate all students to become physically active and excited about living a healthy lifestyle. To provide students with opportunities to be physically active. To accomplish this, students will participate in different activities, games, and learn/play different team sports. Students will learn and use rules, sportsmanship, strategies, techniques, teamwork, and vocabulary.
Faculty Sponsors: Coach Hicks and Coach Williams
Planned activities: Soccer, Basketball, Tag Games, etc.
Dates: Mondays from 7:30-8:20
For the safety of all students, students should not be dropped off before 7:30 AM. Please use the car rider line to drop students off at the gym for Sports Club, not the front office. Please make sure that all students remain in their cars until 7:30 AM. Coach Hicks and Coach Williams will open the gym doors for entry at 7:30 AM on club mornings.
1st Semester (Start: Oct. 3, 2022 - End: Dec. 5, 2022)
2nd Semester (Start: Feb. 6, 2023 - End: March 27, 2023)
The Alford Titans Sports Club is open to students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade.

Terrific "Tear It Up" Titans Step Team
Terrific "Tear It Up" Titans Step Team
Purpose / Mission: The mission of the Terrific Titan’s step team is to provide students with a fun, meaningful, trained, performance experience. Members will gain self-confidence and pride while uniting the local school and community through creative arts in theatre expression, teamwork and leadership skill building. Adding movement to reading lessons reinforces key concepts and helps students concentrate. Look for us to perform at several school functions to celebrate our rich and diverse culture and community so that we can continue building the bridge from empathy to excellence.

Meeting Dates / Days: Practice will be every Thursday at 3:45pm starting October 13, 2022
