Employee Giving
At Gwinnett County Schools, we believe in partnering with organizations that help save lives. We also respect that while employee giving can result in improved organizational engagement and outcomes, giving is a personal choice.
GCPS students, families, and staff are passionate about where their students attend school and work together to support the needs of their local school. Each year our GCPS principals choose to share giving opportunities with the students, staff, and families that attend their school to support each and every student through contributions that go directly to their school to address their needs.
The Engagement Office will provide all Team GCPS members (students, families, staff, and partners) with opportunities to give back and pay it forward. By calendaring out campaigns throughout the year, we are ensuring equal promotion and access to employee communications.
American Heart Association August – September 2023
United Way October – November 2023
GCPS Foundation January – February 2024
Relay for Life March – April 2024
While schools and teams may have fundraising efforts outside of these windows, this calendar depicts the districtwide communication efforts for the 2023-24 school year. All advertising or campaigning within the district must adhere to state laws and school board policies, including but not limited to BOE Policy KJ “Advertising/Campaigning on School Property.”

Absence Management - Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I not seeing any jobs in Absence Management?
There are a number of possible reasons that jobs aren't showing up as available. There are a few things you can check. First, make sure that you aren’t limiting yourself in your “Schools” preferences. Also, make sure that you have your call times set to allow maximum job offers. If you’re still not seeing anything, you can contact your district’s absence and substitute management administrator to make sure you are seeing the correct job offers.
I don't know my login or PIN. Where can I find this information?
Forgot your PIN number? Not to worry! When you go to log in to the system at www.aesoponline.com, you’ll see a link for “PIN Reminder.” Here, you can enter your phone number and email and have your PIN number sent directly to you. If you still have trouble logging in, contact your district’s absence and substitute management Administrator for help.
What do I do if I miss a call from the Absence Management system?
If you missed that phone call, you can always call back, toll-free, at 1-800-942-3767, to hear a current list of available jobs to accept. You can also login online to view those same jobs. You’ll want to act quickly. The system may have already called the next substitute in line with that job offer.
What if I only can work at certain schools?
If you only want to work at certain schools and don’t want job offers from others, it’s as easy as setting up your “Schools” list in your preferences. Here, you can specify what locations you want to see jobs for, or specify those you do not. For help setting up that list, you can reference the “Preferred Schools” article. If you are unable to create that list, please contact your district absence and substitute management administrator for help in setting up that list. -

Leadership Development
-
As the state's largest school system, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) values leaders who have the skills and training to lead world-class schools to increased levels of academic achievement for all students. Because of the changing demographics in our schools, school leaders must be knowledgeable about instruction, should articulate the school's vision and mission, and promote a positive school environment in an era of accountability. Quality-Plus Leaders model high expectations for teachers and students and execute a vision so that these expectations may be realized.
To prepare leaders for the future and the next generation of students. GCPS developed its Quality-Plus Leader Academy (QPLA). The academy provides GCPS professionals with a clear path to development and training. It serves as an umbrella to cover all activities associated with the leadership pipeline in GCPS.

Referral Incentives for GCPS Employees
-
Ensuring that GCPS has top-quality employees doesn’t happen by accident. Our Human Resources and Talent Management (HRTM) team is committed to recruiting, developing, and retaining the very best, but recruitment can be difficult during these challenging times. So, we’re looking to you—our employees—for help. We’ve found that staff members are some of the district’s best “recruiters.” In fact, about 20% of new teachers hired are referred by a current employee who already knows GCPS is a great place to work. To sweeten the deal, employees can earn a referral incentive by recommending qualified candidates who are hired by the district in these high-need areas:
- Special Education Teacher (any field) ($450)
- General Education Teacher ($350) (Computer Science, Elementary (K-5), Health Occupations, Engineering, Foreign Language (French, Spanish), IT Programming, Language Arts, Math, Science, Technology)
- Speech-Language Pathologist ($500)
- (New!) Paraprofessional ($300)
There are two ways to make a referral.
- Complete the GCPS referral form here; please note that the referral form must be submitted prior to the candidate's hire date.
- The teacher/SLP/Paraprofessional candidate may list the name of the person who referred him or her in the referral section of the online application at gcpsjobs.org.
Please note:
- The referral must have a hire date noted in our online system on or after July 25, 2022.
- The referral must be a new employee/direct hire to GCPS and not a contracted employee from a previous year.
- The referral incentive would be included in the referring employee's paycheck once the candidate is hired and has worked a minimum of 60 days.
School Nutrition ProgramGwinnett County Public Schools has partnered with Spur to staff our School Nutrition Food Assistant positions. If you are interested in referring a School Nutrition Food Assistant within Gwinnett County Public Schools to join the Spur team, please click here to learn more about the Gwinnett County School Nutrition Employee Referral Program!
Driver Referral Program: Turn your contacts list into cash!GCPS employees have an easy way to add some extra cash to their paycheck. With the district’s Bus Driver Referral Program, employees can earn up to $250 for referring a qualified candidate who is hired as a school bus driver for GCPS. The Bus Driver Referral program provides a payment of $100 as soon as the individual is hired, and an additional $150 once the new driver has completed 60 days on the job. There is no limit to the number of referrals you can make or referral rewards you can earn!
So, how do you get started? Just let your contacts know about the great benefits of becoming a GCPS bus driver, and tell them to provide your name as a referral when they apply. Our Transportation team will take it from there and make sure you get the rewards you earn from referring your friends and neighbors.
Any questions? Email Dawn.Head@gcpsk12.org for assistance.
Substitute Teacher Referral ProgramGwinnett County Public Schools will pay a referral incentive of $250 to GCPS employees who refer a Substitute Teacher who works for at least 30 days during the 2021–22 school year.
- The substitute will list the name of the person who referred him or her on a referral card completed during substitute orientation.
- Once the substitute candidate successfully completes training and is added as an active substitute teacher and has worked at least 30 days during the 2021-22 school year, the GCPS employee will be paid the referral fee.
The $250 referral incentive would be included in the referring employee’s paycheck once the substitute candidate has been added to the “active” substitute list and has worked a minimum of 30 days.
Please email substitutes@gcpsk12.org with any questions.
