    Visual Arts @ NMAPA

The Visual Arts program at NMAPA is led by Ms. Amina Person, a veteran Art educator who brings passion and creativity to our institution. Dance @ NMAPA

Dance at North Metro Academy of Performing Arts is based on the philosophy that every scholar will have the opportunity to Discover And Nurture Creative Expression (D.A.N.C.E.) through the integration of academics and movement.

With each lesson, elements of the core curriculum are tied to facets of dance like terminology, technique, choreography and stage etiquette. From interactive games to online engagement, scholars collaborate to learn new things as they are exposed to a variety of dance styles like Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet as well as African and Latin dance styles. Most importantly, scholars are encouraged to have fun and discover what they can appreciate about dance for themselves.

    Music @ NMAPA

“Tell me, I forget; show me, I remember; involve me, I understand”. – Carl Orff

The approach to music education at the North Metro Academy of Performing Arts centers around students constantly doing and performing. Through a performance based curriculum, scholars not only learn to express themselves, but also listen to the world around them. Students use a variety of methods to perform as individuals and with others, from singing, to dancing, to playing instruments. Students are also encouraged to connect the cultural contexts of different styles of music as well as other artistic mediums and disciplines in order gain a more wholistic music education.

    Mr. Griffin, Music

Mr. Zach Griffin is in his first year at the North Metro Academy of Performing Arts as the music teacher. A recent graduate of the University of Georgia, Mr. Griffin studied trumpet with Phil Smith and Brandon Craswell as well as conducting with Jaclyn Hartenberger and Michael Robinson. Zach’s real passion, however, is teaching. He has kept a private trumpet studio of middle and high school students since 2015, many of whom have had success in performances and auditions while studying with Mr. Griffin. He has primarily taught instrumental and choral music at the secondary level, but is excited to bring his expertise and musical interests to the elementary level.
