If you receive free and/or reduced lunch, you are eligible for two ACT and two SAT waivers to take each test for free.
To receive an ACT waiver, please visit The Counseling Office and speak with Ms. Fleites.
To receive a SAT wavier, you must complete your SAT registration up until the point that you need the fee waiver code. Once you have reached this point, please reach out to your counselor to show him/her your progress.
Official SAT/ACT scores are not housed at the school. The student must send them directly from the official websites.

ACT
The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in:
- English
- Mathematics
- Reading
- Science
The ACT with writing includes the four subject area tests plus a 40-minute writing test. ACT results are accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the US.

SAT
The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions and is accepted by all colleges & universities. The test consists of two sections: Math & Evidence Based Reading. There is also the option to add an essay portion to one's test administration.

PSAT
The PSAT/NMSQT is a precursor to the SAT assessment. All 10th grade students will take the PSAT at NHS in October at no cost.
The PSAT/NMSQT is the qualifying test for entry to the National Merit® Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. Students hoping to qualify for this scholarship must register for and take the PSAT/NMSQT during their 11th grade year.

COMPASS/ACCUPLACER
The COMPASS/ACCUPLACER test is utilized by colleges to determine admission status and course placement. Technical colleges will typically accept COMPASS/ACCUPLACER scores in the place of SAT/ACT scores.
Gwinnett Tech offers the COMPASS/ACCUPLACER exam at the Lawrenceville and Alpharetta-North Fulton campuses.

ASVAB
The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. Scores are typically needed in order to enlist in the military.
The ASVAB is typically offered at NHS once each school year. Listen to the announcements for more information!
