Uniform Dress Code
Uniform dress code policy:
- Slacks and skirts should be tan, black or blue
- Shirts must be collared and light blue, dark blue, or white
- Shoes must be black or white
- Hoodies are allowed during cool weather, but must be gray, blue, or black
- Hoods must be down
Gumdrop Uniforms (vendor)
While you do not have to purchase through our vendor, school-specific, dress code appropriate apparel can be purchased online via the Gumdrops company. They have many available packages. Please, check them out, even if you just need to visualize our uniforms.

Performing Arts at Summerour Middle School
The performing arts department at Summerour Middle School offers three different specialized music classes: Band, Chorus and Orchestra. We take pride at Summerour in serving some of the best and brightest students in the school. Previous knowledge of music is not necessary to join our classes! We will teach you everything that you need to know. Registration for music classes at Summerour is open to all 5th grade students. Now is the time to join!

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does it cost a lot of money to be in a music class?
- No, each class has an annual fee of $40 to pay for your uniform shirt and additional supplies.
- How much will my instrument cost?
- There are limited instruments available to rent through Summerour for $60 a year. If you would like to play an instrument that is not available at school, you will be required to rent it from a local store. Rental fees range from $25 to $40 per month. Financial constraints will not prevent a student from participation in a music class. If you have financial challenges, go ahead and complete the interest form. Your music teacher will help you find an instrument.
- Do I need to know anything about music to join?
- ANYBODY can do it. No prior knowledge is needed. Your music director will teach you from the very beginning.
- When does music class meet?
- When a student joins music class, the class will be added to his or her daily class schedule. When the times are safe for gatherings, each student will have an after school concert or rehearsal about two to three times a year.
- What instruments am I allowed to start on?
- Band: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium
Orchestra: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass
Chorus: Your instrument is your voice :)

- Your music teacher will meet with every future member to help them select the perfect instrument.
