• Excused Absences

For an absence to be excused, the student must submit the CGHS absence form within 3 days of the absence to the Attendance Kiosk prior to 7:10 a.m. If the student does not submit the form, the absence will be considered unexcused.

As defined by Georgia Law, excused absences are defined by the following:
    a. Student illness
    b. Doctor, dentist or other healthcare professional
    c. Death or serious illness in the immediate family
    d. Recognized religious holidays
    e. Orders of a governmental agency (armed forces examination, court appearances, etc.)
    f. To vote or voter registration – Not to exceed one day
    g. Conditions rendering school attendance impossible or hazardous to student’s safety or health
The above six criteria for excusing absences apply to all-day absences, tardies to school, and check-outs
    from school.
    h. College visits – Not to exceed three days
