My name is Edwidge Antoine, and I am the 8th grade Counselor at Sweetwater Middle. Some of my responsibilities are to support students academically, with personal issues, and high school transitions. In addition, I also provide college and career education to all 8th grade students.Student can make an appointment with me on eCLASS by completing the Student Request Form.Important Information for Parents:
Child Abuse Reporting Procedures In compliance with HB 1176, ALL school personnel and volunteers are required to report suspected acts of child abuse to the person in charge of the facility. In GCPS, the school counselor is the designated reporter of suspected child abuse to DFCS (Division of Family and Children Services.) Abuse must be reported immediately, or within 24 hours.Please be sure to sign up for the Parent Portal if you have not done so already. The Parent Portal offers parents with secure online access to their child's grades, attendance, discipline record, and test history. To register for the portal, you must have an email address and complete a registration form available at SMS. Parents will need to return this form in person and bring valid identification in order for the school to verify your identity.
I am able to be contacted through email, ParentSquare, or stop by the school to fill out a conference form.

- Demonstrate study skills and habits that can be used in various educational settings.
Career Development
- Develop a tentative schedule for 9th grade taking into consideration academic strengths, academic majors, and career interests.
- Identify how their and talents relate to career choices.
- Identify skills and behaviors which will help one be successful in the world of work.
Life Skills
- Identify skills necessary for dealing with life changes.
- Identify ways to recognize and respond to bullying/harassment.
Counselors create an effective plan to teach students the knowledge, attitudes and skills appropriate for their developmental level through mandatory classroom lessons such as Teen Lures, Lifelines, and College and Career lessons.
