The Counseling Department is here to support our students. We offer many initiatives to help our students be the best that they can be for our school, our community, and themselves. Some of the initiatives currently in place are the Student of the Month, and Safety Patrol. We also have other programs and services that are available to our students based on an individual need-by-need basis. Our counselors work hard to provide the time our students need, whether in individual, small group, or large group settings to discuss and encourage social and emotional health.
In addition, we like to get our community involved with our students! If you are interested in participating in our annual Career Days, please contact us!
For more information please visit the GCPS Office of Advisement and Counseling.

Ms. Compton
Hello Magill Comets! My name is Allison Compton and I'm so excited to continue serving the amazing students and families of Magill Elementary School. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Psychology, as well as my Master of Education and Educational Specialist degrees in Professional School Counseling from the University of Georgia. Go Dawgs! In my free time I like to read, cheer on the Dawgs in football, and spend time with friends and family. I love being a counselor because of the opportunities I have to build strong relationships with students and families and support the social, emotional, and academic success of every student. Please let me know how I can best support your student!

Ms. Arnold
My name is Yolanda Arnold, and I’m so happy to be joining the Magill family! I’ve been a school counselor for 23 years, 16 of which have been in GCPS. I was born and raised in upstate New York, but I spent most of my summers in Mississippi, so I’m a country girl at heart. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and then pursued my graduate degree at Tennessee Technological University. I have been married for 26 years, and am the proud mother of three boys and one very spoiled dog. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, binging on Netflix, and spending time with family and friends.Counselor - 1st & 5th
