WELCOME TO THE ROBERTS MEDIA CENTER!
Our goal is to create a positive, welcoming environment for students to read, research, and grow into life-long learners.
We operate on a flexible schedule. Students may come to the library anytime from 9:00am-3:00pm as a class, or individually with their teacher's permission.

Media Staff
Tiffanie Hitchcock – Media Specialist
Ms. Hitchcock has been a GCPS media specialist for many years and has been at Roberts ES since 2017. She says the best part of her job is connecting students with books they love to read. In fact, Ms. Hitchcock’s passion for reading started when she was in elementary school where her love of books led to being a junior library assistant for the school. She recently moved to Suwanee and loves serving her community at work, as well as volunteering in other ways.

Book Checkout
Many studies have shown that self-selected reading materials positively impact achievement, foster life-long literacy and increase the enjoyment of reading.
Kindergarten and first-grade students may check out 1 book at a time. Second-grade through fifth-grade students may check out 2 books at a time. The loan period is for two weeks, but students are welcome to bring the book to us and we will renew it for another two weeks as long as it is not on hold for another student.

Lost/Damaged Books:
All students are responsible for items checked out on their account until the item is returned to the media center.
Fines are not charged for overdue books, however, if a book is lost or damaged to the point it is no longer in condition to circulate, a fine will be assessed.
Replacement fees (established by GCPS guidelines) for lost books are as follows:
$15.00 for hardback books
$5.00 for paperback booksWe accept payment in the form of cash, check (made payable to Roberts ES), or by credit card on MyPaymentsPlus (e-mail tiffanie_hitchcock@gwinnett.k12.ga.us if you would like the fine transferred to MPP). If the book is returned after a student has paid for it, the parent will be issued a refund. Refunds usually take 4-6 weeks to process.
We operate under the Policy and Procedures of Gwinnett County Public Schools and the Roberts Elementary Media/Technology Committee. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at tiffanie_hitchcock@gwinnett.k12.ga.us or call the media center at (678) 745-2371.

Parent Volunteers
We love having parents join us in the media center! It’s a great way to get involved at Roberts and we could not run such a large program without our parent volunteers.
Volunteers typically assist the media staff one morning, afternoon, or week by shelving books, helping students locate books, and helping with other small projects as they arise. We also have two book fairs during the school year that would be a great opportunity to jump in for a couple of shifts or even a couple of days if you cannot commit to helping year-round. No experience is necessary, we will gladly train you!
Email tiffanie_hitchcock@gwinnett.k12.ga.us if you have any questions or would like more information.

Bulldog Action News Team
Bulldog Action News is our daily morning broadcast show where selected fifth-grade students get the opportunity to work in front of the cameras and behind the scenes to spread all the important information our school needs for the day.
Every spring, fourth grade (rising fifth grade) students apply and a maximum of 36 students are chosen to participate in the broadcast program. Each team of six students will work for six weeks, rotating through all broadcast positions. Please e-mail tiffanie_hitchcock@gwinnett.k12.ga.us with any questions.
News Crew Job Descriptions
Students will be trained on all jobs during their assigned rotation on the broadcast. Although you may have a preference, understand that you will do all jobs through a rotation system.
Anchors - Each crew has 2 anchor positions. The anchors deliver the morning announcements to the school.
Field Reporter – Field reporters deliver the pledge of allegiance, learner’s creed, the moment of silence, and daily weather report.
Video Mixer - This person uses the mixing machine to change what we see on-air. They change the show from the anchors to the pledge, artwork, and other speakers.
Sound Mixer - This person uses the soundboard to turn the microphones on and off as well as control the volume for all the microphones on the show.
Computer Operator - This person is responsible for retrieving the script each day as well as running the teleprompter during rehearsals and the show. -
