Mission/Purpose: The Bulldog News Network produces the morning announcements and digital content to share with the school and community.
Description of Planned Activities: Students will develop leadership and teamwork skills through a number of on-camera and behind-the-scenes positions including anchor/feature, camera/lights, sound, teleprompter, studio director, video director, and switchboard operator. Students are selected during the spring of the year prior to the club start date. For example, students for the 2020-2021 club were selected in the spring of 2020.

Mission/Purpose: DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in the areas of Marketing, Finance, Hospitality, and Business Management. Here at North Gwinnett MS we strive to create student leaders who are are academically prepared and service oriented.
Description of Planned Activities: Our activities include community service projects, equipping members with 21st century skill, interview practice, and presentation skills.

Genetics Club

Mission/Purpose: To educate young minds about genetics through fun, hands-on and minds-on activities.
Description of Planned Activities: Throughout the year, students will participate in hands-on genetics activities, listen to guest speakers from the field, investigate genetics concepts, and more! Here are a few examples of things students will be doing in Genetics Club this year: Learn about the human genome, participate in a DNA extraction activity, learn about using electrophoresis and DNA matching in criminal investigations, investigate epigenetics - what is it and how does it apply to me? and discuss the cloning of extinct organisms (think Jurassic Park).

Mission/Purpose: The main mission/purpose of the Intramurals program is to provide a FREE sports program for the students at NGMS. Since there are many students at NGMS that enjoy sports-related activities and not all students are enrolled in PE throughout the school year, intramurals help to provide access for all NGMS students who want to participate in sports-related games.
Description of Planned Activities: Intramurals is a sports-related club that meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during our Fall and Spring sessions. During our club time, we focus on a wide variety of sports that students have an interest in playing. In years past, the sports that we have played the most are basketball, soccer, football, and volleyball. Students from all 3-grade levels are welcome to attend Intramurals.

Jazz Band

Latin Club

Cost: $25 fee which would cover t-shirts and supplies for meetings. Fall Forum is about $45 per person and State Convention is $145. Students would pay for these if attending.
Registration: Just fill out the paper form to sign up and pay dues.
Mission/Purpose: To promote Latin studies and participate in state events with the Georgia Junior Classical League.
Description of Planned Activities: Weekly meeting to play games to learn more about Latin Language, Roman mythology, and Roman history. Practice for Certamen (Quiz Bowl for Latin). Prepare for GJCL Fall Forum and State Convention.

Math Counts

Mission/Purpose: MATHCOUNTS is a national enrichment, club and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement.
Description of Planned Activities: MATHCOUNTS club practices competition-style questions preparing for a Chapter Competition that will be hosted by MATHCOUTS in February 2024.

Odyssey of the Mind

Cost: Dues of $80 to cover registration fees, t-shirts, and some supplies. Students will also have to buy supplies for their solution. Travel for State Tournament, Travel for World Finals.
Registration: Fill out a paper/pencil application, team contract, and parent contract.
Mission/Purpose: Work with a team of up to 7 people to create a solution to present at regionals and possibly state and national convention.

Percussion Ensemble

Mission/Purpose: To expand the knowledge of registered 6th/7th-grade band students who play percussion and develop needed skills they don't get in the normal full band setting.
Description of Planned Activities: Trip to Indianapolis, Indiana in November, and also spring performances in April.

Readers Rally

Registration: Students will receive an application at the first meeting or at Club Mart
Mission/Purpose: Readers Rally is a club for students who love to read and want to compete with their knowledge about specific books.
Description of Planned Activities: Readers Rally members will meet each week to read a set list of 10 books. Students will also write comprehension questions about the books and participate in practice buzzer rounds in anticipation of the county-wide competition. Any student may join the club; however, the competition team will be decided in December each year. Ten members of the club will move on to the county-wide competition in February.

Mission/Purpose: Robotics club seeks to establish best practices involving engineering design and construction of a given project task and to foster the spirit of STEM principles.
Description of Planned Activities: Students will need to collaborate for the successful design and programming of a robot in order to solve rudimentary challenges on a game board.

Mission/Purpose: The team will design, build and code robots to compete in local competitions
Description of Planned Activities: This team will compete in at least 3 competitions this year, but more if they qualify for the state tournament or world championship. This means that the season may extend past 2/1/24
