  •  Our school clinic is for the health and well-being of students and school personnel during school hours. Please make sure that the information you completed online has the correct phone numbers where you or someone you designate may be reached in case your child becomes ill or has an accident during school hours. You may update these numbers during the school year with a telephone call or a note to the school. Please make sure to include special instructions if your child has any allergies or special needs that we need to be award of in case of an emergency.

    Our clinic strictly complies with State of Georgia and Gwinnett County Public Schools guidelines for administering medications. Students must have the Administration of Medication Request form completed and signed by a parent or guardian before any medication (over-the-counter or prescription) will be dispensed. No over-the-counter medications are provided by the school nor are they dispensed in the clinic. All prescription medications must be clearly identified and supplied in the original container with instructions. NO LOOSE PILLS OF ANY KIND WILL BE ACCEPTED IN A BAGGIE.  Inhalers may only be carried with the student if the doctor supplies a letter specifically stating that the student "must carry the inhaler at all times." Otherwise, all inhalers must be kept in the clinic. All medication not retrieved by the parent by the last day of the school year will be disposed of in accordance with state pharmacy regulations. Students who have over-the-counter medicines in their possession will be subject to the discipline procedures as outlined in the GCPS Discipline Handbook. All medication must be housed in the clinic. Parents may bring medications to the clinic and fill out a GCPS Administration of Medication Request form. If your child has other health issues such as asthma or severe allergies, you will need to complete a health plan for that as well. These plans may be sent to you electronically or you may fill them out in person when you bring in medications. Students who must carry an inhaler or Epi-pen on their person may do so, but he/she must have a doctor's signature on the proper health plans on record in the clinic. 

  • The clinic is run by a trained adult and NOT a registered nurse. First aid will be administered in the clinic, but medication can only be given if instructions and a signed, dated note from the physician or parent/guardian accompany the medication; whether it is aspirin or a doctor's prescription. No child is to carry medication on his/her person.

    Parents will be called if students are too sick to remain at school, have been seriously injured, or are running a temperature of 100.0 degrees or more. When your child is ill, or running a temperature, or has diarrhea, or vomiting, please do not send him/her to school. If you do need to check your student out due to illness, he/she will only be released to an adult listed on the clinic card and they must show proper photo identificatI.D. Ill students may be checked out from the clinic.

    It is critical that the school has current phone numbers in the event of an emergency.
