Department of Equity and Compliance ensures the equitable administration of applicable federal, state, and GCPS regulations and laws impacting the GCPS community and fosters positive relationships between the school system and its students and employees.  The Department of Equity and Compliance also administers the complaint and appeal processes; investigates employee, student, and community complaints of discrimination or harassment; and processes accommodation requests.

In addition, it facilitates compliance with legal requirements associated with Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act; Age Discrimination in Employment Act; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act; Age Discrimination Act; Titles I and II of the Americans with Disabilities Act; and Title II of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act.
