    Philosophy

Patrick Elementary media center is a welcoming, learning environment filled with resources for students and teachers to enjoy. Our primary goal is to provide information and services to support our students, teachers and Gwinnett’s Academic Knowledge and Skills.

    Media Center Hours

    Monday through Friday

    8:15- 2:45pm

    Media Center Policies & Procedures

Kindergarten and First grade students may check out one book at a time. Second through Fifth grade students may check out two books. Books may be checked out for a two week period. Overdue notices will be distributed to students quarterly. Students are not charged overdue fines, but circulation will not be allowed until all books are returned.  We want every patron to have access to Reference books so they will not be available for check out. Magazines are available for check out as well.

    Student Services

Students will need to grab a shelf-marker for book browsing whenever they come to the media center. Kindergarten students will need to be accompanied by a para-pro or a parent. Students need to have their book(s) and card scanned at the circulation desk before leaving. Visits to the media center may be 15 minutes long per small group. This time may be used for a variety of activities – browsing, checkout, and research. The open schedule allows students and teachers maximum access to the media center. Thanks for supporting our open schedule.

    Parent Volunteers

Parents are a vital part of a strong media program. Volunteers are always welcome at Patrick! We encourage parents to work a 2-hour segment each week to get more familiar with the kids and the media center. Volunteers will primarily help with circulation (checking books in and out), shelving returned items and setting up displays. Volunteers are more than welcome to assist with special events such as the book fairs and summer reading celebrations! Email for the media specialist for details.
